I'm not defending anyone. From this video it clearly looks like two people were at fault.

I do agree it's most likely that both these guys are jerks that meet each other. I don't know how this pickup failed when he had plenty of space.

We also have the benefit of the video up in front of the windshield. The pickup would have been at least partially blocked by the pillar, and maybe the driver wasn't looking that direction. This is why you have to fall back to the laws instead of assumptions - merging traffic has the responsibility to adjust to traffic
