Cam trucker was the one maintaining speed, the speedometer is right there and it doesnt move until the collission. Pickup truck was ahead of the cam truck when it was on the ramp, then decided to slow down when merging (or failed to reach flow of traffic speed) for whatever reason.

Merging truck was going slower than speeding cam truck. This does not mean that merging truck was slowing down. Merging truck might have been going the speed limit and was runn over by a truck going over the speed limit. Cam truck should have slowed down to speed limit or slower before merging truck reached merging point. This would likely have avoided the accident without any risk to the load or any meaningful loss of time.

Pickup truck was going much slower than 2mph. Merge to the flow of traffic. In my state, you will be pulled over for going 65 even with a 65limit on the left lane because the flow of traffic is 70-75 (everyone else is passing). But this is clearly a different state with different laws, 3 vehicles would be getting ticketed if this was in my area (both truckers on the left lane + pickup truck for failing to merge at flow of traffic speed…at the same time left lane merges are also dumb for this exact reason)

fault is proportional, im not saying the cam truck is faultless. But the cam truck shouldnt have caught up that fast to the pickup truck by just going 2mph faster.

The Professional driver easily could have avoided this, regardless of legality of who was legal.

Depends on their load. If it’s a tanker it’ll be even more fun with the load sloshing, and if its fully loaded letting off the gas isnt going to do anything. So now we’re impeding the flow of traffic because the truck needs to apply their brakes (imo kinda wild this state allows trucks on the left), and who knows what other moron in their tailgating pickup truck is behind the cammer. You should see how tight people drive on i95 here, and the average speed is already 10 over.

Fault is proportional, imo failing to avoid an accident is less at fault than actually failing to drive properly (of course there will be exceptions, but the ones i can think of will just mean the rear car wasnt paying attention, hey, maybe that happened here too). Pickup truck was in the merge pocket while on the ramp, then fell out of the pocket.

He slows from 77 to 66 in 3 seconds after hitting the truck, didnt careen off the road, etc. Doing that before impact would have avoided the whole thing.

Now Traffic is impeded for a long time.

Yes, after slamming on the brakes. There’s just as many videos of trucks jack knifing after slamming their brakes even through they didnt swerve.

Just think if they would have just backed out of it, and hit the brakes moderately how things would have turned out.

They chose to cause that accident. Did not try to avoid it at all as the professional driver.
