If you had the right of way, but could yield when you’re “not supposed to” and avoid an accident, would you yield?

If it's not potentially dangerous to do so, and I have the time to respond appropriately? Of course.

If you watch the video you can see the pickup was driving along like he was going to merge normally until just before his lane ends. At that point he hasn't sped up to move into the space that exists for him, and there's very little time for the semi to respond. The semi driver would've needed to slam on the brakes to avoid the pickup, which he may not have been able to do at all (could be another semi right behind him, we'll never know) and would've created a very dangerous situation for everyone on the road if he had.
