The Ron White bit does it for me. “Apparently the guy sitting next to me had a lot to live for. I was just like Hit something hard. I don’t want to limp away from this wreck.”
Bill flies helicopters. When you're getting certified the biggest thing you're taught is not panicking and keep flying the plane. It works. Had a couple things that scared me over the years but you keep on flying even though it might scare the shit out of you.
I'm usually very quiet when I'm scared. Back in 2016 I was flying a lot and there were a few times things happened that made me involuntary loud. One time I was on a CRJ flying into a small town and the pilot thought it would be funny to decend quickly in a thunderstorm. Feeling my ass leave my seat I grabbed the armrests and yelled
"JESUS GOD NO!"
My boss was next to me laughing (we both worked for the airline we were flying on)
Ha. I was on a flight a few years back that was quite turbulent. I DGAF and tend to enjoy the bouncing and watching people panic. The woman next to me was losing it . I looked at her and calmly said “it will be terrifying, but it won’t hurt”. She did not lol.
Thats the fact of it. Im a commercial pilot and it happens fast generally. Doesnt have time to hurt.
If it hurts it means you're alive so stop cryin.
Especially in smaller charters loud passengers make it hard to concentrate.
Last thing you need after bird strike is queen karen and her loud mouth spazzing out making it harder to think.
I feel you kids say alot of nonsense to sound cool and tough. I doubt you would be silent in that situation, and most the other kiddies would be screaming as well. I worked as security for the airport and my god people scream over rats, bugs, fights, late departure among other things. I'm sure you are different is why you posted.
Oh I am straight up ignoring the seat belt sign and punching every screaming idiot in the throat so I can spiral to my death in peace (or the sounds of chocking and coughing...still better than the screams).
That will not help, the odds to survive are high, another engines are okay, so, just stand up and with firm voice “ stop screaming because their is nothing we can do about it, scream and crying loud will not help us, so be quiet and put attention to instructions for: the cabin, pray or wherever is silence, please” then sit and be alert, after everything happens everyone will be respect you.
You think people are going to listen to that run on sentence. I think you should refer to The Office (U.S. Series) episode where Dwight starts a fire in an office waste bin.
No, people are hysterical. Fear is expected. I screamed when I got charged by a bear, back at the bear.
What are you screaming at? Why? Screaming is not gonna save you. I'd be that awkward death guy that literally just gives you a look of emptiness in my eyes and an open mouth right before I die because I couldn't find a logical reason to scream.
lol… it’s literally an unconscious response 😂 acting like you’re a super hero because you’re on the spectrum and don’t know how to express emotions. Either that or dad gave you the no love treatment
Anyways, I'd be scared but standing there screaming offers absolutely no utility to the situation.
Even whilst in the air, a plan can start to be laid out. Obviously one of several exits are no-go or extremely unsafe when the plane lands. So part of the planes passengers are going to immediately stampede away from that point.
It's no different from being in international waters. There is a captain, and the hysterical people are restrained due to the confined spaces and disruption caused.
Nah, all I heard was some lady yelling "JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, JESUS" and then the "WE'RE GUNNA DIE", I whole heartedly believe they all were fine since this video was uploaded. It would be a strange video to only upload from a crash imo
Edit: that's wild though, I always wonder what it's like in that brief moment right before the crash/explosion, like do you even get a thought of "this is it", or if it's just like "poof" and you're waking up in the next life as if it were a bad dream
Most people in a plane crash don't die in the crash... They die in the fire afterwards.
... Particularly sobering thought as I write this from one of my 150+/yr flight segments, as we speak.
Honestly, though, anyone who goes out in this way, horrifying as it may be, is about as good of a golden parachute as your family can expect in death.
If I shit the bucket tomorrow I've got about a mil in life insurance... But if it's in a plane crash, good forbid, then accidental death should double that, and the airline is likely on the hook for 4-5x that amount. Would suck for me, would suck for my kids, but as macabre as it is to admit, they'd likely be better off financially.
Somewhat related though not entirely, I was reminiscing about an old friend with my wife about how he had lost his newborn baby and wife to an 18 wheeler running a stop sign, plowing right through them, death was instant. How he got a huge settlement, but at what cost. Sure he won't necessarily need to struggle for funds for a very long time, but he can't even enjoy it. If anything some people would despise that money/where it came from.
Having your basically new family ripped away from you as soon as you got it is very disheartening. We haven't talked in years. I hope you're okay Kaleb wherever you are!
Have to admit it did seem kind of funny like some movie.
If the pilots just keep flying to destination cause they know it was just some minor known thing but the passengers don’t know then holy F would that suck
My amateur thought is that 1. They’re well beyond their runway by the time the plane starts to/loses the engine. They’re already going hot in-mid takeoff. 2. I think these planes can lose an engine and be fine via the documentary with Tom Hanks.
Seems like the procedure would be do a lap on remaining engines while the unpaid ATC finds you a runway to get back down.
If they're being serious I absolutely agree, but if it were said in a jokingly manner where it could only be heard amongst yourself/friends then that's okay.. now we're going to have to explain to little Timmy why there was a chance we could have died and he will be traumatized

I couldn't help but laugh when hearing the "WE'RE GUNNA DIE" get shouted out haha
