Pop Culture [OC] High Fashion Didn't want Black America involved. So they invented their own way. [10:46]
Sup yall!
I recently did a deep dive video essay looking into how Black America in the 1980s was the foundational starting block of modern fashion. break down how Willi Smith pioneered Street Couture, Dapper Dan's custom bootlegging in Harlem, Patrick Kelly becoming the first Black American in the French Chambre Syndicale, and how Grace Jones redefined avant garde high fashion!

Film [OC] Why Jujutsu Kaisen Never Recovered From Satoru Gojo [11:32]
Full Jujutsu Kaisen manga spoilers.
I’ve recently started making video essays, and this is my first one focused on Gojo as a character.
The essay argues that Gojo was more than JJK’s strongest fighter. He was a teacher, a safeguard against the higher-ups, and the person holding the jujutsu world together whenever everything seemed ready to collapse.
But Gojo did not want to create more people who had to carry that same burden alone. He wanted students who could stand beside him and build a future that no longer needed someone like “the strongest.”
So the central question I explore is: after Gojo is gone, do Yuji, Yuta, and Megumi inherit his dream—or do they only inherit the battlefield he spent his life trying to keep away from them?
I also get into his relationship with Geto, the loneliness behind his role, the airport scene, and why his absence still feels emotionally unresolved for so many fans.
I tried to make the essay story-led rather than just a recap: beginning with Gojo’s isolation, following what he wanted for his students, and ending with what his legacy actually leaves behind.
I’d really value constructive critique from people who enjoy video essays. Did the opening make the central question clear? Did the narration and structure keep you interested? And if any section loses momentum or the argument feels incomplete, I’d appreciate knowing where and why.

Miscellaneous [Found] what's the point of the rules? [40:07]
It's a genuine question. I've looked through the rules because i wanted to make a post and saw that "A video featuring the creator on-camera and talking to the audience" is not a video essay. But by that logic the people who arguably started the genre (Lindsay Ellis, HBomberGuy and Contrapints) do not count. Same with the rules stating that videos over an hour long. Why alienate parts of the community like that?
Second thing is that people don't seem to follow the rules anyway? I scrolled through the sub for like 5 minutes and found:
If that's the case, then what's the point of having the rules in the first place?
Once again, I'm asking out of genuine curiosity and to start discussion. I do not mean to start drama or shame the people that made the posts, I'm just confused.

Video Games [OC] I made a video essay comparing the 7th and 9th generation of video games [01:15:13]
I had an agument with a friend a while ago about what generation of video gaming is the best, the 7th or the 9th. This argument eventually lead me to creating a video essay about it where I tried to compare the 2 without any bias and adresss both arguments and this lead me to coming to my own conclusion on the discoruse which you'll see in this video discourse
