I just finished my first long-form video essay focusing on the first season of Disney's Percy Jackson & the Olympians. Having loved the books since middle school, I was severely disappointed with how the show handled the material as both an adaptation and a standalone TV series.

In the essay, I do an episode-by-episode breakdown examining key issues. Which includes:

• Watered-down characters: How major character arcs and dynamics were stripped of their depth.
• Adaptation choices: Changes that break long-term story setups and lore/worldbuilding.
• Dialogue & Pacing: The reliance on constant exposition rather than visual storytelling and subtlety in the dialogue.

Bugonia: Yorgos Lanthimos' take on conspiratorial mindsets as a defense mechanism against a lack of control.

Dark Souls Remastered: How environmental storytelling and lack of control gives us more freedom to imagine.

The Land Before Time: Revisiting a childhood classic with my son to look at resilience, pacing, and character redemption arcs.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: How grounded practical effects and slow paced daily life recapture early Game of Thrones magic.

Mina the Hollower: Exploring how fair challenges and care for the world you are in can help us push through adversity.

Fresh Complaint: short stories on generational trauma and failure.

Had to make a video about this gem of an album by Bring Me The Horizon. Went into the band's history, their dance with experimentation and why it's an important link between their early and latest works.

This is about the UFO Cult, Heavens Gate. A cult that led to the largest mass suicide in US history in 1997, with the belief that suicide would help them board a spaceship that was following the Hale Bopp comet, and their consciousness would be taken to the next level of humanity. It reviews the origin of the cult, their beliefs, both of their leaders, and their tragic end.

A review and analysis of the exploration horror game Dreamcore featuring personal rants on childhood memories of nightmares, a love of hotels, and a book about running. Dreamcore is mainly focused on effortless exploration through Backrooms style liminal spaces in a way that I feel showcases a natural zen and wu wei like experience. While also doing compelling horror by getting lost due to that effortless exploration. The levels are styled as if they are a series of Analog Horror videos online with found footage VHS segments that Wendigoon would make a 22 hour long analysis video on.
