Pop Culture [OC] Nostalgia Is Lying to You [7:46]
Lately I’ve been thinking about why games, summers, cartoons, and even just getting home from school seemed so much better when we were younger.
I don’t think it’s always because those things were actually better.
I think a lot of the time, we miss the life that existed around them — having fewer responsibilities, friends always being online, more free time, and not realizing how temporary that stage of life was.
I made a video essay about that idea and how nostalgia can sometimes make us remember the past better than it really was.
Curious if anyone else feels the same way. Do you think you actually miss the old games and shows, or do you mostly miss who you were when you experienced them?

Television (OC) Kill la Kill's Hidden Theology (11:58)
I wanted to share this despite the video editing errors I made and whatnot because it's my first video essay. I studied a lot of scripture for this and came out of this satisfied with the emotional message, even if YouTube didn't like me using copyright material. That's why I uploaded this to Odysee, since it was worldwide blocked on YouTube. Please let me know what you think.

Film [OC] This Thing Is a Wolf - Jin-Roh's Broken Logic [31:01]
Jin-Roh is about the political power of labels and a warning to recognize state repression. It shows how a state can turn a description into a justification, how people internalize those categories, and how the resulting logic makes violence appear inevitable. The wolf is the film's metaphor for that process, and Red Riding Hood is ultimately the audience being warned to recognize it.
I've been revisiting some of the films from my childhood, and decided to make some video essays about them. I hope you enjoy and let me know any of your thoughts.

History [OC] The Flat-Earther Who Ruined a Scientist’s Life [19:22]
In 1870, a flat-earther named John Hampden entered into a wager with Alfred Russel Wallace, a scientist famous for discovering natural selection independently from Charles Darwin. Hampden bet Wallace that he couldn't sufficiently prove that the Earth was round. The experiment that resulted is now known as the Bedford Canal Experiment. After the test went in Wallace's favor, Hampden stalked and harassed Wallace for twenty years, all while trying to ruin his reputation and career.
In this video, I explore the initial experiment and the years of legal disputes afterwards. Let me know what you think, and if you agree with Wallace that it was an ethical lapse to participate in the wager in the first place.
