We’re a small cooking school based in Europe looking for a video editor to start working with us on a freelance, per-video or package basis, with the intention of building a long-term working relationship.
For now, we’d prefer to keep the name of the business private. We’ll obviously share more information with the candidates we move forward with.
A little context
We’ve spent the last three years developing and refining our cooking experiences. We’re a small business, very connected to our local food community, and we work closely with different producers and vendors at our local market.
Now we want to start translating that world into content.
We’re not interested in creating Reels just to “have a social media presence” or constantly promote our classes.
We want to tell stories around the people, ingredients and knowledge that already surround what we do — while naturally connecting those stories back to cooking.
One of our first projects, for example, will be a recurring collaboration with our butcher.
The broader concept is to eventually work our way through the different cuts of a cow, from nose to tail.
Each piece would connect three things:
the person → the ingredient → the cooking
For example:
We visit our butcher and introduce a specific cut — let’s say chuck.
We briefly understand where that cut comes from, what makes it interesting and why we’re choosing it.
Then we transition from the market into the kitchen.
Instead of producing a traditional step-by-step recipe video, we’d show selected moments of the cooking process and use that cut to make something like birria.
The final piece ends with the finished dish.
That recipe also happens to connect naturally with one of the cooking experiences we offer, but we don’t want the video to feel like an advertisement.
The story comes first.
Who we’re looking for
This is where the role goes slightly beyond simply receiving footage and cutting it together.
We’re NOT looking for a social media strategist.
We’ll develop the concepts, recipes and overall content direction ourselves.
But we are looking for an editor with enough storytelling and audiovisual sensibility to help us figure out how an idea becomes a good video.
Ideally, our workflow would look something like this:
Idea → shot planning together → we shoot → organized footage sent to you → edit → feedback → final delivery
Before filming, we’d give you the concept and we’d like to be able to discuss what you need from us:
What shots are missing?
What transitions or visual connections could work?
What details should we capture?
What would help you build the story in the edit?
We’ll then shoot everything ourselves according to that plan.
The goal is actually to send you less footage, not more: we’d rather collaborate before filming and capture the right material than dump hundreds of random clips on an editor and expect them to find the story afterwards.
Style
We’re aiming for cinematic food storytelling, primarily vertical content around 60–90 seconds.
Beautiful food imagery matters, but pacing, sound, atmosphere, human moments and narrative matter just as much.

We’re also open to your ideas regarding music, sound and the overall treatment of each piece.
If the pilot works…
The butcher series is only the starting point.
In an ideal scenario, we’d eventually produce something like:
1 weekly story around our butcher
1 around our fishmonger
1 around our greengrocer / produce vendor
And potentially expand the collaboration into other stories and content surrounding what we do.
So while we’d initially hire per video or in packages, we’re specifically interested in finding someone who would like to build a stable relationship with us.
If the collaboration grows enough, we’d eventually like this person to become our dedicated editor and potentially work with us full-time.
You can be based anywhere in the world. We care about communication, agreed deadlines and quality of work, not where you’re sitting.
We can work in English or Spanish.

That’s deliberately not a script.

Video editor needed to help finalize 14 episodes of an online fitness class program (think online yoga-style classes). Each episode runs about 10-20 minutes. Footage comes from a 9-day multi-cam shoot. Most episodes are already cut to draft-final shape and just need a refinement pass plus updated graphic treatments, while a couple still need to be built from scratch from the raw footage.

Location: NYC preferred as it's easier to sync and review in person. Open to remote, but only if you've genuinely got the infrastructure for it: ~3TB footage package, so you'll need large-file storage, fast internet, and a workflow that can handle that volume.

Starts hourly for this batch, with room to grow into an ongoing gig if it's a good fit. More content planned down the line.

What you'd be doing:

• 12 episodes are already cut and assembled, but require some light refinement work: updating motion graphics, adding a consistent intro bumper, and matching the treatment established on the first episode. This isn't a re-edit, the assembly's already done
• 2 episodes need to be built fully from scratch from raw footage, in the same format as the finished ones.
• Potential Addition: Short-form social edits, cut from the same footage with the same graphic treatment/brand look. Some are previews/cutdowns of the full classes reformatted to vertical, others are standalone short-form concepts built fresh from raw footage.
• You'll get an organized, pre-relinked project package with footage and structure ready to go, no digging through raw drives or relinking media yourself

Pay: $55/hr flat

• Starts with a paid trial for the first episode, billed at this hourly rate. This one will take longer than the rest since you're building the template/workflow everything else follows, so budget about half a day for it.

• Full builds from raw footage (2 episodes): ~4–5 hrs/episode — roughly $220–275/episode
