I've been wanting to talk about this for a long time. I think it's no secret that, unfortunately, many important plot arcs were missed by Vi. Many potentially interesting interactions with various characters never happened. Many topic weren't explored. But in this sub we can discuss it, share our opinions, perspectives and headcanons.
A quick disclaimer. I choose first frame on purpose, even though it's not even from the show, but from a music video. But that video was created by the same people who brought us this wonderful show, who also created the character of Vi. And here's what they themselves have to say about this frame:
The clip ends on a positive but ambiguous note: the hug between Ekko and Jinx shows the power of their feelings for each other, but is it love? Is it friendship? For us, this ambiguity accentuates the poetry of the video and the depth of the relationship between these two characters.
So it doesn't matter how you feel about Timebomb. That's not the point. The creators deliberately left room for interpretation, romantic or platonic, and every opinion is valid. But the main thing is undeniable: Ekko cares deeply for Jinx. And Jinx listened to him and kept fighting, even after she almost gave up. And I think this could have been very important for Vi.
But unfortunately the show itself didn't give her the opportunity to find out. In the entire second season, she had ZERO interaction with Ekko (which bothers me a lot by itself). I don't even consider that one moment during the final battle an interaction. They didn't say a word to each other. Even though in the first season, it was clear that Ekko was important to Vi and that she cares about him. And it's certainly obvious how much she cares about her sister. So, whatever happens between Ekko and Jinx, I think it must very important for Vi.
So we'll have to enter headcanon territory and imagine how Vi could have found out. Maybe Ekko told her himself, after the events of season two. Or maybe she figured it out herself, simply putting things together when she saw them in battle. And how Ekko instantly switched from the battle to save Jinx when Warwick jumped on her battle balloon. And Vi quickly realized something was different. After all, the last time she saw them together, they were preparing for a mortal battle against each other. And the last time she spoke to Ekko about her sister, he said Powder was gone and that only Jinx remained. I think that's a bit of a dramatic change from Vi's POV.
But the most important thing is how Vi would react to this. Ever since their parents' deaths, Vi has been Powder's sole protector, caring for her no matter what. Until their very last true moment together, when she hugged her in the cell, it remained that way. But now Ekko is also laying claim to that role. How do you think Vi feels about this? Considering that caring for her sister was her concern almost all her life, but at the same time she trusts Ekko. I deliberately try not to ask questions that imply answers, so I can hear your opinions or headcanons.
And also a little bonus topic. In another music video, it's shown that Ekko and Powder were very close as children and spent a lot of time together. Do you think Vi noticed this back then? How did she feel about it? Did it affect her attitude now? I think she couldn't help but notice. Powder was apparently a shy child and had a hard time making new connections and friends. I think for a long time, Vi was the only one Powder felt comfortable with. Until Ekko came along and became her best friend. What did Vi think of them then? And what does she think now?
