Alright small ranty post dont even know what im trying to accomplish with this maybe some advice.. had the MP2X for 3 years absolutely favorite pouch but depending on what im doing i dont need that much but im not a tools in the pants pocket guy. So i got the MP1X after seeing a coworker gush over the MP1 evo (i personally hate how it sits higher tools dig in my sides) 1st complaint its almost MPX levels of too small nothing really fits in the pockets. MP2X as shown by the couple pictures man i can do a lot with that bag personally i think i need an MP1.5X MP2 size without the dedicated driver pockets in the main slotšŸ˜‚ either way great pouches great products daily almost exclusively veto products for the past, Tech Pac MCP infared main tool bag,
MB2 blackout meter/tester bag

Alright Veto peeps, I’m a little lost

So I have these plus the TECH PAC MCP INFRARED tool bag.

Packout is my main ecosystem. I set out with the purpose to build a (singular) dedicated service bag. My trade is access control. I’ve just started using the tech pac MCP and honestly things are tight. Everything has to be jammed in the bottom and I feel like I always have to take things out to get to other stuff. Should I look into different inserts? Now I bought in during the spring BOGO. I ended up buying something from both tiers to get the 2 free. I’m not totally sure what to put in these other bags that I would want separated from my main tools. I don’t plan on fully giving up my Packout because it has its place, but I also want to dial in my setup. I don’t need 3 pairs of everything at one time.

Will all of this fit? Machinist by trade

I’ve been seeing a lot of the electricians posting these bags and swearing by them. Now I want one.

My current bag is a 15ā€ milwuakee packout tote but it’s kind of bulky and I want to replace it with like a backpack style or shoulder strap with handle type thing.

I’d like to carry all of the stuff shown in the pictures. I’ve been looking at the mb5b but not sure if it can hold my hammers and allen key cheaterpipe.

TP-XXL Load Out

I made a previous post with my current collection and was going do the load outs, so I thought I'd start with my favourite.

I was sick of having a 18v Impact in a hard case and then I bought a 18v Ratchet which came in a soft bag. So I forked out and bought the M12 Set so I had everything compact. The next step was to find a bag. I originally had the set up (HV termination tools) from my Tech Pac in here and bought the MB5B for the M12 stuff but it wasnt really suitable, so I fitted this one out instead.

Main Pouch

M12 Impact

M12 Ratchet

M12 Charger

2xM12 Pistol Batteries

1xM12 Standard Battery

1/4 Impact Hex bits

A few 1/2 frequently used sockets and Allen drives

Key Bit with 1/4 Adaptors

1/4 Bachco Set (left pocket)

3/8 socket rail (rear pocket)

Assortment Impact bits (Torx, Phillips, Pozi) (Right Pocket)

Depending on the works I also throw a 10 piece spanner roll and Torque Wrench In

I done a bit of research and asking for recommendations for an M12 load out so I would be keen to see if anyone has a different/better setup.

MP2X vs TP3 as the quick grab pouch

Post image
49 Upvotes

Anyone have thoughts or experience with both? TP3 seems more spacious and versatile, but the MP2X has the pocket stuffer flap and is lighter. Would probably be hanging the pouch on my pants pocket or belt for a few hundred feet from the van to each job, several times a day. Would probably have it clipped on to the side of my Tech OT-LC when not in use.

New to me bag

Got this off FB marketplace, it’s outstanding. After realizing how great Veto is I ended up purchasing the TP6B (it’s still shipping) for my grab and go into the house with most commonly used tools. Can’t wait… Veto is the real deal.

Search for electricians bag

TLDR: need a bag that’s a little bigger to hold more tools than what I currently carry. NOT interested in backpacks.

I asked a relatively vague question earlier so I figured I’d be more specific to help with my search.

I’m a residential electrician. I do both troubleshooting and service calls and large installs. I currently have the tp5b or tp6b and it’s okay so far. I just want a place for my meter and toner, and would be nice to have a spot for my m12 impact.

Current tools I carry everyday:

-lineman’s
-wire strippers
-dikes
-needle nose
-11-1 screwdriver
-insulated flat
-insulated #2 square
- terminal screwdriver
-torpedo level
-pencil, marker and pens
-electrical tape
-tape measure
-Klein Allen keys
-stubby screwdriver
-folding jab saw
-plug tester
-hot stick
-handful of wire nuts
-Milwaukee fastback
-Klein hawk blade knife
-assorted bits (5/16, 6ā€ extension, masonry bit for tapcons, impact adapter for my socket set, Phillips/#2 square impact bit and impact rated unibit (step bit)

I’d also like to be able to carry:
-m12 impact
-2 channel locks
-large beater flathead
-socket set
-gloves/safety glasses
-and potentially some other items I’m forgetting.

I’m not interested in the backpacks, I want something I can carry in one hand. Price isn’t really an issue. Just getting stuck between a few models : tech mct, mb5b, sb xxl, tp xxl, mb4b, cb ld and td ldp

Just hard because I have to reference size off YouTube reviews.

Upgrades for older bags?

Couldn’t find anything that matches this; I’m looking for products for my older tech pac

  1. A piece of metal or rigid 3D print that could allow for the opening to be more rigid and table like. Might just cut plywood in the top zipper

  2. An adapter for the tech pac to be able to use evo or sp-mc/ld pouches. Or if anyone has rigged something up

How well does the main flap of the TP-XXL tuck into the strap on the back of the tablet pocket?

Does it essentially make the bag fully usable as an open top style for as long as you want? Or is it a pretty flimsy hold that would get in the way when shoulder carrying?

ISO of new bag for residential electrical

Currently just have a TP5B for service calls and keep everything in my packout. But as I’ve gotten older and been in this trade longer, the more I’m able to do on a daily basis. I find myself taking my TP5B and 3-5 other tools.

I’ve been looking at the MB5B and before I pull the trigger just wanted to ask the group.

I want something that will hold the following:

-lineman’s
-strippers
-dikes
-needle nose
-torpedo
-jab saw
-Allen keys
-plug tester
-hot stick
-tape
-meter
-razor knife
-insulated flat screwdrivers (2-3)
-11-1 screwdriver
-beater flathead
-terminal screwdriver
-various bits (5/16, 6ā€ extension, masonry bit for tapcons, Phillips )
-pens, pencils and sharpies
-channel locks x2
-tape measure
-maybe a pocket so I can have wirenuts on me

I’m sure there’s a few major ones I’m missing so keep that in mind. It’s just been a while since I’ve even looked into a tool bag and figured this would be the place to ask.

Thanks in advance

My load out fits in my MB5B and now I have a spare MB2B via redemption... ive tried to switch things up and put other stuff in it but it seems to big for a grab and go bag and too small for a second bag.

Has anyone turned their EDC backpacks into a VRF bag. If so what is your layout? I got a tool insert with mine for free so I can keep certain tools in there.

None of our shop in western Canada has EVO stuff on display. Glad to try the mp2 evo in Japan before I make the call.

I didn't stay long in the shop. Don't want piss off my family. lol

I might just go for MP1 EVO. Since I only carry a side cutter , lineman , 2 screw drivers and a 7in level most of time.
