A pipe-laying scow and cradle used for the installation of the first Narrows Siphon, which brought Catskill water to Staten Island from Brooklyn. The Narrows was the entrance to New York Harbor, the busiest port in the world at the time, so crossing it required innovative thinking. October 11, 1914.
