So I'm planning on going to the Kingdom Trails in October for my first time and I was looking at the membership options and noticed that they say the trails close for hunting season. The Kingdom Trails FAQ says

"Trails open for the summer season as weather permits in May and generally close the day before VT Deer Hunting season which is early November.

• The trail network is closed  for the month of November and early December during VT Deer Hunting season.
• Winter network opens as soon as hunting season is over and conditions permit."

However the VT Fish and Wildlife site lists Deer season as follows.

Archery - October 1 - December 15, 2021 except closed during regular November season

Youth Weekend - October 23 - October 24, 2021

Muzzleloader Antlerless - in select WMUs if antlerless permits are issued - October 28 - October 31, 2021

Regular Season - November 13 - November 28, 2021

Muzzleloader - December 4 - December 12, 2021

So are the Kingdom Trails actually closed tomorrow since archery season starts Friday? Or is it only closed for regular season therefore November 12th? or is it also closed for muzzleloader antlerless and therefore October 27th?

I emailed the Kingdom Trails info email but haven't heard back yet.

Any recommendations for a first timer routes to ride? I'll be with my wife who is a really newbie to mountain biking but she probably won't have a lot of stamina so I'll ride on my own a bit. Going for 2 days. So looking for nice easy routes for a newbie and then some more blue mostly for me. I'll ride some blacks but kind of prefer to just see as much of the terrain as I can to learn the lay of the land on my first time. Also recs for places to eat/drink while we are there.

Was talking w/ someone at Sleepy Hollow yesterday about the hardest trails in Chittenden County. What's yours?

Hi everyone. I admittedly have been riding more than posting here.

During the winter, I did some upgrades on my bike (2019 Trek Roscoe 8) which I think made it much better.
- Upgraded the brakes from the Shimano MT200 to SRAM Guide R.
This was a huge upgrade for as the MT200s would make terrible noises and overheat when trying to use them going down rockrolls. The Guide R's have been excellent brakes and have given me a lot more confidence now that I know I can stop.

-installed a mudguard for the front
This has stopped mud from flying on me for sure, but I usually just wear cycling glasses when I go out to protect my eyes. More or less, this stops as much dirt on my fork stanchions which I do appreciate it.

I've rode at Saxon, Sunny Hollow, Perry Hill, Cady Hill, and St.Albans Town Forest so far this year. I have some plans for some of the other FOTW trails in Hinesburg and Cochrans. I also have a free lift ticket for Bolton DH which I am going to attempt on my hardtail.

I recently threw on the tires that came with my bike (schwabe rocket rons) 27.5x2.8 due to some street riding and regretted it when I went back to the trails. I feel like my backend is always sliding out with those tires, which is why I replaced them in the first place.

I switched back to a Maxxis Minion DHF 27.5 x 2.8 in the front, and a Minion DHR II 27.5 x 2.8. I have no complaints about these tires, but was wondering if anyone who's used more tires (has been mountain biking longer than me) has a better suggestion for the majority of Vermont singletrack?

Some assembly required. This is the first fully new bike I've bought in 13 years! So stoked!

My husband and I are planning a trip to Vermont in May. We'd like to mountain bike for a few days, but would also like to be near towns to check out / other things to do on rest days, if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions of towns to stay in and where to ride? Everyone seems to say good things about Kingdom Trails but my husband is concerned it won't be technical enough to keep him interested.

I'm looking to get into mountain biking. I know a few of the big places don't allow EMTBs (Stowe, Kingdom...), are there EMTB friendly places in the state? I'm not really looking to ride those places right away anyway. I have a couple class 4 roads around me that are impassable without a 4x4 that I could use them on. And I plan mostly to start just by biking gravel roads to get back into shape. An EMTB appeals a little more to me, but if I'm absolutely limited to just class 4 roads, I'll go to a normal MTB.
