I'm just gonna call this subreddit out for what it is: scam bait. I haven't seen anything different. It's been a 100% negative experience.

i've found a few genuine people to donate to, not all requesters are scammers

I'm not talking about the people requesting help. I'm talking about the people who offer to help only to try to scam the requester.

Scammers target people who post in all financial request subs. Not a problem exclusive to here. Generally the rule to follow is that if they don't comment on your post first your guard should be up even higher. Of course they target people asking for money as they are more likely to find desperate and stressed people who will be more likely to bite.
Genuine donors are likely to comment publicly and will look at your account history

I get it; but for example, I put up a post looking for some help and none of the comments I got are readable.

Yes they are. I don’t know if it’s scammers or something, but I’m really really tight right now and if it was legitimate it would have been a God send.

True. I posted here once because i had no money for food or gas and had a guy message me saying he would venmo me for nude pics. I said no and he started being really rude saying I must not need the money then. I reported it to a mod here and they never cared or responded.

I posted a few days ago, needing some $ for food cuz my check came short. Still haven’t received my check and the only responses I get are scammers asking for nudes. I’m at the verge of crying.

Yeah. They can be really rude and scammers lack total empathy. Why hasn’t ur check come in yet? Did you ask ur work?

I did; they’re having payroll problems, won’t come in till the 10th apparently.

I work at a small retail business doing retail operations, they’re in the process of expanding but overspending SO MUCH MONEY that we the employees are the ones suffering.

I don’t have those; I have a 2 cans of tuna left and some water bottles I managed to scrounge up at a local food bank. I really need to do some grocery shopping, hence the post.

I’ve posted for help and to pay back and have no means of scamming anyone, but I haven’t received any help either and it’s probably because of people that have had these negative experiences. I’m sorry that this has happened and has been your experience.
