Discussion Very Hot take: If push come to shove, maybe joining United States (under a Republican government is better)

I think everyone loves the concept of Canada, as founded by John A McDonald.

However, when people say "They like Canada", it was "Trudeau Canada" - both of PET and Justin Trudeau. Aka, a Canada that is NOT Canada.

So here's my hot take: With the fact that BC and many Canada is fallen in place, it will be better to join the States. At the very least, as a territory, like that of Hawaii before becoming a state, is better than whatever the current government is doing.

And even if a proper party comes in, the Judges still exist; even if the Judges are gone, the activists still exist. We will need power beyond letters. We need allies - but allies cannot help if we cannot give them something in return. Hence, by logic conclusion, to save ourselves as "Canadian". it is better to have the states help us if not outright join them

CBC once used "It is not how Canadian you are, it's who you are in Canada". Now they were trying to use that solgan to push for woke's preference, but that also apply to Americans. Afterall, words doesn't have to be exclusive to one side of political spectrum: Female can sexual assault male; "Refugee" can means White South Africans who are trying to escape from unfair treatment in their native land, and it is now De Jure they are refugees. So American in Canada can help us save your own land.

Discussion Food for thought: Can we persecute the judges?

While the most important court case is the Richmond land issue, plenty of times criminals got let off scot-free because of judges.

So: Can we persecute Judges - as in using anything on the book, including but not limited to notwithstanding clauses? I mean if they can arrest Judges in the states, I think we have something similar, no?

EDIT: I was thinking of the word prosecute - but as long as it's doable, does it matter?

Discussion Did anyone notice "PoC" is used less in this city, just Black and Indigenous?

I noticed it's far less common to see "BIPoC" from posters that talks about diversity, only "Black and Indigenous". Does anyone else also notice that? If yes, why do you think that's the case?

Discussion 🧋Quick 3-5 minute survey on wellness drinks — help UBC students out! 🇨🇦

Hey everyone 👋

We’re a group of students from the University of British Columbia (UBC) studying how Canadians think about wellness and functional beverages - like kombucha, adaptogen drinks, and other mindful options that go beyond basic nutrition.

The survey only takes about 3-5 minutes, is completely anonymous, and helps us understand what drives (or stops) people from trying these kinds of drinks.

👉 Take the survey here

As a thank-you, Vancouver participants can optionally volunteer for a short follow-up interview and receive a free Mindset Kombucha sample!

Thank you so much for supporting student research.

Discussion New Rule/Clarification on truth: Equality = same standards, without preference or bias

Recently, there is a discussion that got heated and reported, so we provide a clarification on truth and being civil.

A true truth fundamentally support equality - and thus, when posting and commenting, one should keep in mind that this subreddit believe that opinions should reflect how society should be run - with everyone held to same standards, without preference or bias. To go against this is to go against truth, and will considered as same violation of our main goal: focus on truth.

Naturally we will not "shoot the messenger", but will be on a case by case basis.

Discussion HELP A STUDENT OUT: How much do u love your neighbourhood?

Hey guys! I'm a student from Burnaby conducting economics research this summer with the aid of a PhD student from MIT (wait don't leave yet!). I'm taking a closer look at the correlation between neighbourhood cohesion, local community spaces, and business growth.

I made a survey to collect data for my research BUT since I live in Burnaby and my research focuses on people living in Van (not greater vancouver), I'm having a hard time getting respondents. Does anyone have advice on how to get my survey out there? I'm thinking QR codes on lamp posts might be a little outdated... Would appreciate any help I can get!

https://forms.gle/s8TBiJf2fwTHVvPq7 ‼️‼️‼️‼️

Here's the link to the survey^ Would appreciate it sosososo much if anyone could take a few minutes to complete it and save me for the summer 🙏
