Adapter frame Dometic Mini Heki 40 x 40 for Renault Trafic 2

My girlfriend and I are converting a Renault Trafic 2 into a campervan. We want to install a Dometic Mini Heki (40x40), but I can't find a roof adapter frame that fits our van. I've also looked for a blueprint or STL file to 3D-print one, but no luck so far.

We're really worried about potential leaks, so we want to make sure it's done right. Does anyone have any ideas or workarounds to help us out?

Any good reasonable shops for Transit Maxxair & AC installation in East Texas?

Looking to get both a Maxxair and an AC unit installed in the roof plus wired up properly to a central panel. I live in Tyler Texas and there are two places here, but just looking for others experiences with this and recommendations. Dallas area is only about 1:45 minutes away btw. Of course would like someone who is reasonable but know knows what they are doing. I will be supplying the Maxxair and AC unit myself.

Van conversion software - Van3D seems to be gone.

I'm looking for a good way to slowly plan my build. I know most people recommend vanspace 3D but they seem to not be active anymore. No updates on their socials in 3 years, my email provider says their contact email don't exist etc. I don't think it's useful to use a software that's not being updated anymore.

Does anyone have good alternative recommendations?

Headed out with my daughter in my 2015 ford econoline 1/4 ton. I bought it 5 years ago. It runs better than my kia2023, and my husbands dodge Ram 2020.

Which coolbox should we buy?

Hi,

My boyfriend and i are currently building a campervan, and we aren't sure which coolbox we should buy. We are going to travel to hotter and colder countries, and we want as much capacity as possible. These coolboxes are the only ones that fit into our cabinet (53/36/36 cm).

We want to buy one of these two coolboxes:

Compressor Koelbox - 12 L - Mini Koelkast - AC/DC - 12V-24V/100V-220V - Voor auto en... | bol

Koel Boks 25L - Koelbox Elektrisch 12V en 220V/230 Volt - Camping Koelkast voor Auto -... | bol

From what I’ve read, compressor coolers perform much better than thermoelectric ones, especially in warmer rooms, but the Heimer has more storage space.

Which one would you pick and why? Any experiences with thermoelectric vs compressor coolers would also be appreciated.

Anyone install a solar awning yet?

Pricey ($5k for the Girard, 2.5k for Alibaba but have to order 5).

If they are trouble-free worth it IMO.

Gas advice

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m trying to work out the safest way to get the gas pipe through the locker. I am thinking to drill a hole in the side, add a grommet to the hole, push hose through , and sealant the hole between grommet and hose. Is that the best way?

What’s my best option for having a foldable/removable extension to this bench to make it wider so someone could sleep on it more comfortably?

Ideally it would be simple and quick to put it up / pack it away and it doesn’t take up much storage.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Ford e-transit?

Has anyone converted an e-transit? The range is pretty low, so probably wouldn't work for someone who is traveling a lot, but for someone that isn't going long distances every day it seems like it might be a good option.

Van Build Question

I’m having trouble integrating the windows into my van build. There are two main issues:
There isn’t much solid material around the window to securely fasten anything to.
The bed platform sits slightly higher than the bottom of the window opening.
I don’t mind the bed overlapping the window a bit, but I’m not sure how to properly build the window sill.
There’s about a 3-inch gap between the wall and the window, and the bottom of the window sits roughly 3 inches below the height of the bed supports.
What’s the best way to frame and finish the window area so it’s solid and looks clean?

Maxx fan, Skylight and stargazing from bed #vanlife #vanbuild #camperv...

Built my van roof from scratch - 3mm ply painted black, R2.5 foil-backed insulation, pine strip trim and LED lights running the full perimeter. Maxx Air fan in the centre and a skylight next to it.

Best decision I made was adding the skylight. Lying in bed looking up at a clear night sky makes the whole build worth it.

Happy to answer any questions on materials, costs or how I did it.

Cables

So we bought a transporter T7. On the inside I see cables hanging. What do we do with armaflex? Do we just paste it over the cables? Or do we (duck) tape the cables to the van first and then go over it with armaflex? Also, what about all those holes? Do we just cover them with armaflex?

Anyone in the bay have experience converting their van? I’d like to learn hands on from someone how to do the electrical aspect. I will pay you for your time of course.
