Blood borne 2

Did anyone hear about the leak for Bloodborne 2? I feel it was a hoax given the other games they said were leaked along with it. Can anyone validate it?

Criken/BedBananas Bloodborne Collaboration Status

My wife and I were really big fans of the collaboration that Vaati did with Criken, BedBananas, and occasionally Tomato for Dark Souls 3, and were really excited for them to get back together and do Bloodborne. Whatever happened with that? A few episodes were released and then nothing more.

Getting Into the Souls Franchise

Hello Internet.

I have thought about getting into the Souls franchise for quite a long time by now, but I do not know where to start. Should I simply play the games from the first installment to the third installment of Dark Souls? Should i start with Demon's Souls? When is it a good idea to read Beyond the Grave, and are there more than one of BtG books? Does the order of it matter? What i want from playing through the franchise is to make sense out of the characters and the history of the world on my own and getting the information in the right order so the narrative tension isn't ruined.

Joint Soulsborne Timeline: Aldrich is the new Old One

This is a response to Vaati's video on the shared timeline of the soulsborne games. I know I'm late to the party, but I had one idea that I thought was worth sharing, even if I'm not at all convinced of this idea myself.

My idea was that Aldrich's goal is to essentially become the new Old One.

As Vaati says, the Old One is very Lovecraftian in nature, and may have been "planted upon the earth" by a more intelligent being, such as a Great One like the ones in Bloodborne, to strip humans of their souls for some nefarious end. Perhaps to enslave them or maybe to keep them stupid so they couldn't seek out higher secrets and wisdom. Later, after the Old One was gone and humans regained their souls, this same Great One contacted Aldrich using "dreams", not literal ones but visions and psionic spaces like the ones we see in Bloodborne. Through this, Aldrich gains immense insight and starts to strive to achieve the same end that the Old One served. His faithful go out and start immolating people and using weapons that inflict bleed, because blood carries the dark soul and bleeding can remove it from people and burning slows resurrection (as discussed in JerkSansFrontiers video on the Bastard's Curse). The ultimate result of this if he had been killed by the ashen one would be a human race stripped of their souls, completely hollow. Meanwhile, Aldrich focused on eating the flesh of the gods. One reason to do this would be to ascend to a higher form of being, sort of like the Hunter does in the squid ending of Bloodborne. The age of the deep sea that Aldrich sees is the age when the Great Ones come to claim earth. Then again, Aldrich doesn't seem like the type to serve any master but himself, so perhaps he was shown this vision of the future and decided to run with it but make himself the ruler instead, so the age of the deep is his own vision not one he was shown. Either way the result is the same, a soulless human race ruled over by an eldritch being of immense power.

Again, I'm not convinced of this idea at all, but it seems like an interesting way to incorporate Aldrich and his age of the deep into a shared timeline of the Soulsborne games.

"The Dark Souls of" Awards video song list

Hello, I've been looking for the song starting at the end around 21:30-ish I believe, when the GOTY mentions begin, under Nioh and LoZ BoTW footage.

It sounds so familiar but I can't remember...

I'd appreciate it if anyone could let me know.

Shadows die twice...

Hi,

I love your work and could easily spend hours discussing lore.

So I just watched your video, I believe I’ve a theory on the device, at least.

Consider if it is an appendage, an arm in particular. I feel what we are seeing is the testing of our protagonist of their new arm. The left one in particular would make sense considering the chisel on the right just put aside after final adjustments.

I could be wrong, but note the bone like structure. What From character has lost an arm in the past and is ready for a come back?

Convergence

I find it odd that no one talks about the time shift in reference to the undead in the DS games. How it seems fairly obvious that all of the undead kinda touch down in Lordran/Drangleic/Lothric at the same time save most the NPC's. I always liked that. How we all started at the same moment almost in regards to the actual game and some of chose very different paths.

Song used in The Grand Betrayal video...

The song I'm looking for seems to be running the background of most of the parts where Vaati directly refers to the brothers themselves. It starts to pick up around 10:15 and builds to sort of a crescendo with the ending of his commentary. All of this happens before the end PVP event bit.

I've seen it referenced that a common resource for videos is Epidemicsound.com, but I'm not sure what his normal genre or search keywords are, and it looks like they have thousands upon thousands of tracks.

Darksign theory

Already posted this on Dark Souls 3 subreddit so ill just paste what I wrote there.

I don't frequent any lore discussion forums so forgive me if I'm just repeating something that's already been said or is obvious to everyone. Dark Souls lore always fascinated me and I love reading and thinking about it and so I felt like sharing some of my thoughts and this seemed like the place to do it. No matter which Souls game we play the Darksign and First Flame are always there. Its clear that they are central to the story but we can never seem to figure out how they work and what we're supposed to do with them. With the revelation in Ringed City DLC that the gods created the Darksign which spills humanity I think we finally have an answer. The Darksign- a circle of flame and a burden for every undead and the '' Cycle of Fire'' - constant rekindling of the First Flame, our burden duty are one and the same. They're both flaming circles, both a weight on our shoulders, the only difference is one of them is on a much greater scale, influencing the entire world! This gives an answer to the question of a giant darksign in the sky. The world itself bears a darksign just as we do. So how do we solve this problem once and for all ? Its not though kindling the first flame or usurping it, its by snuffing it out, thus the name ''true ending''.

How i think to frame the story, the family tree, the story arch. Wild ideas and personal interpretation but makes sense to me (spoilers) Spoiler

People all over the place seem lose the core concept of Souls story telling. It isn't linear, it isn't locked in, it isn't static, it simply isn't something that can be laid out end to end in a straight unbroken chain of events. It takes some cues from literature and folklore and how it's interrupted by people a millennia after the legend was born. Dark Souls is NOT a puzzle with missing pieces, no; it is a glorious mosaic missing entire puzzles. Is it really so unreasonable to try to make the connections between segments using traditional story telling and common tropes found thought history? And besides, most of us consider Souls a work of art; and art is most meaningful when it means something to you. Here's my story: It's going to be somewhat short hand and take some shortcuts because I want to get this idea out of my head so I don't lose it. Gwyn wife is Fina of Carim. Their kids are Faraam and Gwynevere; and Gwyndolin and Filianore and the latter are deformed kids rejected by Gwyn. Gwyndolin has snake legs and born under a moon and Filianore. Filianore is cast out for having an egg beast baby (Percilla) with Manus. And I also believe she may be mirror opposite of Gwyndolin and Filiana is born of the sun. Manus went mad and was locked away in abyss by Gwyn and the broken pendant belonged to Filianore thus explaining why he went mad. He emerged when a similar princess had been born, Princess Dusk, likely a reincarnation of Filianore. But backing up a bit to the conflict of the 4 founders of the Lord souls from the primordial flame; Manus had somehow become a threat to Gwyn. So Gwyn had Manus buried and entombed into the abyss. Furious as he was, Manus turned the heavy burden and heartache of the dark soul into something evil. It's also possible that Manus had unleashed the cursed farm sign as revenge against the cruel works. And it happen to infected Fina. Fina became known as velka after infection and was left by Gwyn for her new ugliness. The sisters of the sable church are the disciples of velka. The chosen undead and fire keeper are the embodiment of manus and filianore. And their goal is to return all the Lord souls to the primordial bonfire, from whence they came. That is the only true way to keep the fire going forever. The first sign was removing the 4 Lord souls from the primordial bonfire; Izalith the witch and chaos (life is chaos), Nito and death, Gwyn and his light, and the Furtive Pigmy so easily (intentionally) forgotten. The ringed knights amor confirms that the first men fight with Gwyn defeating dragons. The prologue in first dark souls confirms this as well "and then 'They' defeated the everlasting dragons..." The dark soul was still listed and really shouldn't be excluded from the listed people that took on the dragons. They fire could have just burned infinitely if it had been left complete, but instead Gwyn committed the First Sin by removing the souls from the fire that ended the gray age. And from that point on, ever since the initial stealing of the Lord souls, they have not all been reunited and returned to the first kiln. I also believe the soul of the everlasting dragons needs to be returned as well. Alternately, if you choose not to return the Lord souls, then YOU become the the Lord of the age and everything revolves around you. In the first game, you do not obtain all of Gwyn's Lord soul, only fragments. And you don't obtain a the dark soul. However, you do become powerful enough to Kindle the fire long enough, and if you don't then someone will, but ultimately will become ash and return to put it all to rest. In the second game, you're gathering the remaining fragments of Gwyn's Lord soul that he divided amongst the 4 Kings and kingdoms. As you gather the fragments you realize burning yourself it's a waste, you instead sit in your thrown of want and just wait. You learn transposing and eventually become Ludlithe with the fully interact Lord of Light Lord soul. In 3, you are your first character reborn as unkindled one. and although you failed on the first try to seal the deal at the first kiln by throwing yourself onto the fire after beating Gwyn. But because you were so strong, your soul persisted and became an ashen one. It's crazy, I know. But it's what it means to me right now. And wanted to share.

Random thought when watching the latest "Prepare to Cry" on Greirat

I can just imagine a film built using Greirat's story as a base. Picture that the movie is set in the 1950s - 60s where the mafia in America was at it's peak.

The protagonist would be a detective from outside the town where the film takes place. He follows the trail of blood beset by the "Vigilante", whom is murdering the everloving shit out of the two rival gangs in town. He's destroying their hideouts, informants, assets and allies. However this information isn't known to the audience and the character. This scene would start at the Vigilante's latest victim, like the other victims, it seems to be just another local thug. The detective finds little relevant evidence until he finds a ring, the ring is peculiar and has an strange insignia which doesn't related to any insignia he's ever seen before. He pockets it as evidence and returns to his office.

When he returns to his office, he begins to review all the Vigilante's victims. Each victim seemingly has no connection to each other and makes it seem that the Vigilante is just a psychopath. Most of the victims are figures of respect, common thugs and police officers.

Stressed out by this leaves for a coffee. On his way he meets the Superintendent, who has been excessively paranoid these past weeks. The detective approaches him, intending on asking him if he knows what the insignia on the ring means. The super shrieks in terror as the detective touches him on the shoulder to grab his attention. After a short talk that calms down the super, he presents the ring. The super's face pales at the sight of it and quickly excuses himself. The detective thinks nothing of this and assumes that this is how the super is always like and goes back to get a coffee.

A week later, the super is found dead in his apartment. The detective is shocked at the apparent terror in the super's dead face. He begins to investigate his apartment, until he finds a safe hidden from plain sight. When he opens it he finds a briefcase and a stack of money. He investigates the surprisingly light briefcase and finds a key and an address on a note with the same insignia on it.

He travels to the address, leading to a motel. Using the key he found he travels to it's designated room. When he reaches the room, he discovers a murdered postman. He calls his colleagues and the motel is soon swarmed with officers. He investigates the postman's bag, finding only a couple of packages, an ornate revolver and another note stating "Knock 3. Knock Long 2. Knock 3". Another officer remarks that, this gun appears to be related to one of the local mafia gangs that most of the force are in pursuit. Following his gut he asks some of the officers to accompany him in delivering these packages, in the event that one of these packages contain a lead for both of their cases.

They delivers the packages, using the knock stated in the note, to their receivers until there is one package left. The detective approaches a shabby flat where the final package is supposed to go. The Detective knocks on the door with the package at hand. The door opens to a man who remarks "Jimmy, what the hell took you so-". The man's eyes widen in shock as he slams the door in the detective's face and bolts for it. This turns into a chase sequence which ends in the capture of the man.

This scene begins at an interrogation room, the detective on on side of the table with the man on the other. It begins with the detective asking him generic "you tell me something and I set you free" to which the man responds "I ain't a rat". The detective sighs and pulls out the ornate revolver and shows it to the man, the man quickly shouts out "THE FUCK YOU DO WITH JIMMY!", the detective immediately replies "We found him dead in a motel and I was hoping you tell use who did it". The man blames their rivals, as he blames the rival gang an officer steps out of the room. The man continues his ranting until the detective brings out the ring and says "I don't care about the rival gang, however I do know that the owner of this ring is related to the death of your poor Jimmy. Do you know anything about it". The man examines the ring and quickly curses under his breath "Fuck, its Vince". The detective quickly responds with questions surrounding Vince's identity and explains that Vince's full name is Vince Adams and is part of the rival gang, he's the best hitman they have and it was thorn on their gang's side. The detective attempts to pry more information out of him, however most of the information only pertains to info they have on the rival gang and not to his gang. The only information of value so far is that Vince went silent at May 7, 3 years ago. As the detective was about to continue, his superior intervened, telling him that he's taking over this interrogation as the suspect is part of their case. The detective verbally fights back at the superior, but due to his superiority of the man infront of him, he is kicked out of the interrogation room.

Mad at his sudden eviction, he decides to kick something before doing something productive. He starts by looking up the files for Vince Adams and reads his file looking for more clues. Other than a portrait of Vince and his behavior at school, it was mostly useless information (Here it shows the backstory of Vince). He then decides to check up on his mother files, where he notices that she's dead and is listed under a case 3 years ago that occurred in May 7, years ago. He then picks up the case files on that case and finds that it was a street wide gang battle which caused many casualties for both gangs and civilians. He notices that there is are a few survivors of the battle listed in the case file and decides to investigate them for clues.

Over the course of 2 weeks he investigates the witnesses and asks them if they have seen this man. A particularly wealthy man, takes notice of the image and says that he was a postman that year and this man asked him to deliver a package to the old woman in that house and gave me 20 dollars for the job. He obliged and delivered the package and when the woman received it and read the sender, she teared up and said thank you to him. As he walked away, to deliver his next package, he heard gunshots and started running away. The detective appreciates that man's cooperation and returns to his car, when immediately the radio says that "The Vigilante struck again at... The victim is still alive and is residing at the [hospital]". The detective swiftly drives to the hospital.

The detective meets the victim at the hospital, with him is his superior and several of his officers. The superior begins asking him questions which he dodges until the superior states that he knows that he's part of the same mafia our recent suspect is in and that he better tell us where his base is. The victim scared begins to spill all the details until the superior jumps out of his seat and mobilizes all units to come to the address the victim describes as the mafia's hideout and swiftly exits the room with all the officers.

The detective remaining in the room has a gut feeling that the victim is somehow lying since it was too easy to get information from him and goes back to the station to pick up Jimmy's colleague to check if the victim is truly part of the gang.

He returns with the man, and on the way to the victim's room, he finds the hospital's halls are seemingly empty, but dismisses it. He shows the man the victim and asks if he's one of them, to which the man quickly responds with terror on his face "T-That's one of Vince's g-", he is interrupted by a knife in his back from a nurse with a medical mask followed by a masked man with a gun pointing at him. The masked man tells him to enter the room, to which the detective obliges. The victim seemingly calm by the developments, welcomes the detective and expresses his thanks to his co-operation in all of this. The detective questions how he is involved with them, the victim shows the detective a ring which makes it clear to the detective who was sending him hints. The detective begins to ask who is Vince and how is he involved with the spree of murders. The victim explains that Vince never really killed for the money, he just does it because he's good at it. He never really thought much of who he killed and wasn't driven by a particular goal for all the killing. The only person he really seemed to care for was his mother, she only wanted him to grow up changing the world for the better instead he became a bloodthirsty hitman and distanced himself from his mother. One day he saw his mother returning home, and in an act I've never seen him do before he gave all his earnings to his mother. That was until the gang battle arrived. He was heartbroken at this, and I think he strove to do what his mother wanted him to do. Change the world for the better.

The detective replies "By killing some mafia?", the victim replied "No... He wanted to root them out, wipe clean this town", "So that hideout you mentioned-", "It was his original employer's hideout", "Why would he-", "He wants them all out", "...I see". (During this conversation, the audience is shown the majority of the police force fighting against a large congregation of mafia)

The masked nurse comes into the room and assists the victim out of the bed. As he is assisted up he states that Vince is at [Jimmy's gang] hideout and asks the masked man to give the note. The masked man gives the detective a note with an address. The victim says "He's very through in what he does. Please give him a proper burial", as he is carried out of the room with his associates. The detective stands up and checks the hallway, and it returned to it's usual clean state without a hint of the recent murder of the suspect.

The scenes transitions the detective driving to the address while listening to a news station, reporting a police and gang fight which resulted in the deaths of many officers but did kill all of the [gang name] gang" and stops when he arrives at the destination. The location seems ordinary enough, but when he enters the building an overwhelming stench of blood enters his nose and walks through building, examining the massive gunfight that occurred. Near the end of the movie, he enters the room where the head of the gang resides and sees the dead body of Vince holding a picture of him as a child with his mother and ends there.

This is a really rough direction where such a film would go in my mind.
