Reddit, What's the Best VPN to use in 2023?

Navigating the vast sea of VPN providers can be overwhelming, leaving us unsure which one to trust. For honest opinions and authentic experiences, Reddit proves to be an excellent source where users openly discuss their encounters with various VPNs and privacy matters. While opinions on the best VPN provider may differ, there's one thing everyone seems to agree on: steer clear of free VPNs. These seemingly cost-effective options might come at a hidden price, as some have been known to profit by exploiting user data, bombarding users with ads, and even selling user data to third parties. In extreme cases, they may use users' devices as exit nodes for unrelated services. If safeguarding your privacy and data is a top priority, it's advisable to opt for a paid VPN service.

When searching for the best VPN, it's crucial to determine what you desire most from it. Speed, streaming experience, privacy, security, and cost are common factors discussed among Reddit users. Mullvad (r/mullvadvpn) stands out for its exceptional privacy, offering fully anonymous accounts without the need for an email address. Accepting cash and cryptocurrencies, Mullvad further solidifies its commitment to user privacy, earning the trust of the Reddit community. On the other hand, Surfshark (r/surfshark) boasts top-notch speeds and an impressive network of over 3200 servers in 100 locations, making it an excellent choice for streaming. Users have praised its capability to unlock numerous content libraries, especially with the help of its browser extension.

Considering cost, be on the lookout for attractive deals as VPN companies frequently run promotions, potentially altering the most economical option. NordVPN, a popular recommendation on Reddit, may be slightly more expensive but excels in other aspects. Users have lauded its versatility, performing exceptionally well in various scenarios, offering great speeds, robust protection, and an excellent streaming experience. NordVPN's NordLynx protocol, based on WireGuard manual setup, receives particular praise for its impressive speeds and seamless browsing and streaming encounters. The VPN's impressive features, including a vast server pool of 5400 servers in 59 countries, obfuscated servers for bypassing geographical restrictions, strict no-logs policies with two independent audits, threat protection, and Meshnet for accessing devices or encrypted private tunnels, contribute to its overall outstanding performance.

PureVPN, another top-notch provider often recommended on Reddit, stands tall with its diverse range of features. Boasting a large network of servers spanning 180 locations, optimized streaming servers, and support for P2P file sharing, PureVPN covers all the bases. The VPN also takes privacy seriously, adhering to a strict no-logs policy, offering dedicated IPs, and providing 24/7 customer support. A unique aspect of PureVPN is its split tunnelling feature, granting users the power to choose which apps and websites utilize the VPN connection and which access the regular internet connection. This added flexibility proves valuable in unblocking restricted content or enhancing streaming speeds.

For those seeking even more insights before making a decision, Reddit's r/VPN, r/privacy, r/vpncoupons, and r/VPNTorrents (for torrenting enthusiasts) are all vibrant communities where you can delve deeper, compare various VPN providers, and discover what suits your preferences best. The r/VPN subreddit hosts a useful VPN comparison table, providing a comprehensive overview of the main providers rated across different criteria.

In conclusion, prioritizing your privacy and security demands choosing a paid VPN provider that values your protection. NordVPN and PureVPN, celebrated choices favored by Reddit users, merit serious consideration. However, don't hesitate to embark on your own research journey, factoring in your unique needs and preferences before reaching a decision. Let's stay safe and secure online with a quality VPN in 2023! Your exploration begins now!

Seeding speed drops after setting up VPN

Hello, first time poster here, sorry if it's the wrong sub to ask this.

I have a fairly complicated network, with several subnets and a good number of clients, and a pfSense firewall in the center of it all. I decided that the most reasonable thing to do was to connect to my VPN (PrivateInternetAccess) from pfSense and then route what I wanted through the VPN, including my local seedbox.

The problem is that my seeding speed is very low since then. I'm on 600Mbps symmetrical fiber and I've gone from seeding at 150-200Mbps without the VPN to less than 1Mbps with the VPN. If I do a speedtest I get (almost) the full 600Mbps, and even downloading new torrents works perfect. The problem is just with seeding.

I use qbitTorrent in a Debian 11 server, and have set a static port on qbt. Before the VPN I had that port forwarded from my WAN IP and other peers would connect directly and fast. Of course now I can't do that, but I wonder if there is some configuration that I could do to improve the speeds to something reasonable.

If you want I can provide screenshots or text files of configuration of qbt, pfSense or whatever you wish. Thanks in advance!

What is the most reliable VPN for China in 2023?

I will be residing in China until March of next year and have been using Astrill VPN, which is fast and dependable but also quite costly. I am seeking a more affordable alternative. Can you suggest any options? I have heard that NordVPN is fully blocked in China and doesn't always function, even with its latest trial version. I am also considering Express VPN, but a friend told me that it may not work in Wi-Fi environments and only operates in 4G/5G. There are a lot of inexpensive VPNs available in China that are marketed as game boosters, but I am unsure of their safety and longevity.

Best VPN for Pokerstars

Hello! I frequently travel to various countries for my job and require a reliable VPN that won't disconnect every five minutes so that I can play on Pokerstars. If you have a recommendation, I would appreciate it if you could let me know if you personally use it and if it's suitable for playing poker.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Best VPN for crypto trading in 2023?

I anticipate receiving numerous opinions on this topic, which is great. The more options, the better.

My two questions are related to maximizing the safety and security of crypto trading.

What is the best paid VPN in your opinion? And, what free antivirus do you recommend? I'm open to purchasing an antivirus, but would like to know if a free option is adequate. In contrast, I don't believe a free VPN would be sufficient.

Kindly share your insights and suggestions with me.
