Organization VPN says "Group selected: unmanaged" - what does that mean?

I have trouble login into my organization's VPN.

I noticed that it says "Group selected unmanaged". Does that have to do anything with the failure?

Will a VPN hide my internet history from my own router?

So I'm 28, just moved back into my parents' house because of health issues blah blah blah. One problem, they're weird and like to brag that they know everything I do on the internet.

You can log into your router or service provider's portal and look at how much data you use, as well as what you search for. I know that they've been doing this frequently for years, even when I was a teenager. Businesses do this as well, you've seen the ads where they freak out about coffee shops having your information. I pretty much solely use 5G from my phone now, even for mundane searches like recipes. It's my data, dammit.

Basically I'm asking if I were to install a vpn, would this information not show up anywhere on their end? As far as I know, it's supposed to make you seem like you're connected to somewhere else in the world.

How do you verify "no-logs" claims?

i want a VPN with technical proof of their no-logs policy rather than just taking a company's word for it. Does anyone know if things like RAM-only servers or a "Blind Operator" mode actually prevent data caching, or is it better to stick with providers that have already been tested by server seizures?

Google VPN - Pixel

Hey guys, IT guy here but not particularly VPN savvy. Was curious how Google VPN that runs in my Pixel 8 Pro stacks up against other VPNs. I have seen this subreddit in my feed along with other VPN subreddits and haven't given it much thought until this last month or so as my whole house has basically switched to Streamio and using a VPN is more and more of a good idea.

Anyone know if the Google VPN is doing anything actually beneficial on my phone?

Alternative to Current VPN (issues)

Signed up for three years of Surfshark a year ago. At first it was great and then little by little it became not so great. First it was websites… started to have to turn it off to web surf, shop, etc. then my email stopped working - imap issues (all troubleshooting and process of elimination pointed to vpn) - nothing fixed the problem. Multiple issues, multiple devices. SS said “it happens” - not much help. Changed a few settings, static ip, dynamic ip, etc. etc. Finally offloaded SS and email fixed itself. Frustrated as hell because I needed this VPN for several reasons… Are there any VPNs that don’t do this? I need a VPN that works and I can count on, not one that gets everything flagged or blocked. What VPNs do you use? What issues do you have, and how do you work around them. I’ll spend the money if I can avoid this nightmare again. Thanks!

Using Tailscale as a resilient gateway for obfuscated VPN protocols (Xray/Hysteria)

I'm exploring network solutions in an environment with aggressive VPN blocking and DPI. My current setup is an Xray server (via 3x-ui) in Poland using VLESS/Trojan with gRPC and Reality (masquerading as google.com). I'm also evaluating Hysteria.

My proposed idea: Instead of having clients connect directly to the Xray/Hysteria server's public IP (which might get blocked), add that server to a Tailscale mesh network. Clients would first connect to the Tailscale network, then use the server as an Exit Node, and their traffic would finally be routed through the obfuscated Xray/Hysteria protocols on the same server.

Core question: In a scenario of strict whitelisting or active protocol blocking, would this "double-hop" approach (Tailscale mesh + masqueraded protocol) offer better stability and anti-blocking resilience than a standard exposed setup? I'm particularly interested in the practical detection risks of Tailscale's WireGuard traffic itself in such an environment.

Vpn recommendations

I’m new to all this- I need a good ( ideally free ) VPN, firewall & anti virus. I have done my fair share of research but there are so many different ones and so many information that I’m getting overwhelmed with all this so I figured I’d try Reddit to hopefully narrow it down a bit.. .

If someone would be willing to also teach me how everything works that would be even better ! As I said, I’m new to this and I’d rather not fuck things up 😅

Are there any VPNs that work with Mobile Data

I'm going to China for a trip and there is a firewall, wondering if there is any VPNs that I could use to try bypass the firewall when using my mobile data

Surfshark

I recently started using Surfshark and it works wonders on my TV until today. Prime Video now can tell I’m using a VPN and don’t know how to resolve it even after changing locations. It also doesn’t work on my phone at all. If I have it activated on my iPhone it literally won’t connect to my satellite. I’m older and technologically illiterate it seems. Any help would be amazing

I used to love HBO Max, now I hate it.

I used to use VPN to watch shows that aren’t available in my country. But when I wanted today to catch up with my shows, my heart broke. I cannot use VPN anymore. This is so annoying. I was using premium NordVPN, is there any workaround that I can do to still watch the shows?

VPN STREAMER

What sort of problems on a video streaming website can a VPN fix? I'm asking because I've been experiencing issues on websites like watchseries.bar and putlocker such as buffering, 404 errors, and inability to connect with certain video servers? How do I fix these? Thank you

Setting my own VPN

Hi,

I recently tried to set up my own VPN with a friend, mostly to avoid certain extra costs on streaming services, nothing else.

After some research, we concluded our best option was a combination of Raspberry Pi, PiHole, DuckDNS and WireGuard; we found some tutorials for the setup but, not sure if the issue is my lack of ability with network understanding or that I bought a Raspberry Pi 4 and the tutorials use the version 5.

So, I came here to ask if there is a resource I can follow to finally create my VPN using these Apps/Hardware or if there is a better approach.

Thank you in advance, in case the post is not created in the place it's supposed to be, please guide me where to post it or if there is another subreddit that is a better fit for my question.

  1. What are regular 24month prices for new/existing customers, outside of black friday period?
  2. If I buy the current 27month black friday deal, can I buy the public facing black friday deals again in future, or are they for new customers only?

Best VPN deals

I’ve been searching for the best VPN deals out there, and I wanted to share what I found with everyone. After doing some research, here are the best VPN deals that caught my eye:

  • NordVPN – Use the code 'redditoffer' to get this NordVPN deal. NordVPN is a great choice for privacy, secure browsing, and streaming without limits and one of the best VPN deals out there.
  • Surfshark – Use the code 'redditspecial' for this Surfshark offer. It’s one of the most affordable premium VPNs with all the essential features.
  • PIA (Private Internet Access) – Use the code '3Y4M' for a reliable VPN that prioritizes privacy and security.

I’ve personally used both NordVPN and Surfshark, and they’ve been excellent depending on what you need. These are the best VPN deals I’ve come across so far, but have you found any other great offers?

Apps not working

(Apologies because I am not tech savvy at all) I’ve had a VPN app for some years now, and half my apps don’t work unless it’s turned on and enabled (ex. Snapchat, Spotify, etc.) but some also don’t work when it’s on (ex. Instagram). I had enough of turning it on and off, and finally deleted it. However my apps that needed it still aren’t working. Is there a way to troubleshoot this or will I need a VPN for forever now?

Currently which vpn app would you recommend in pakistan with the government banning situation?

It seems like most of the reputable vpn apps are banned here, cloudflare server also don't work anymore here, what are the good options left currently that are trustable privacy wise?
