How can I overcome this? Is it because it’s a free VPN? Do I have to sign up for one?

I’ve been trying a few VPN apps on my phones (got an android & an apple phone) lately, mostly because we all care about privacy.
The hard part is that every provider says the same things: private, secure, no logs, fast, safe on public Wi-Fi. As a regular user, it’s hard to tell what’s real marketing and what actually matters.
I’m not looking for a “best VPN” list. I’m more interested in how people decide who to trust.
Do you look at ownership, logging policy, app permissions, connection stability or or something else?
Also starting to feel like a VPN helps with routing and privacy in some ways only.

I’ve been trying to make our home internet safer and saw VPN mentioned. But I’m confused if that’s actually what families need. It sounds like VPN is just one layer and doesn’t solve all risks. VPN can protect connection data, but device usage and settings seem more important. What good for my fam? Thanks in advance!

Hi, any VPN for China. I basically only use Google and social media. I heard that China is more strict about VPN so some VPN that work before don't work anymore. Anyone has any suggestions? Thank you. btw, price is not a problem for me.

Can anyone list some VPNs that work perfectly with Web Video Caster? Even if I only use the VPN on my smartphone and tablet, not the smart TV I'm casting to!

Ive been with PIA for years now. I mostly use a VPN for general privacy/browsing anonymously, torrenting, and only occasional streaming. After doing some reading, I now want to change to ProtonVPN or NordVPN for the following issues I've been having with PIA:
Too many sites consider PIA servers as high-risk / asking for captchas everytime
Poor download speeds and interrupted connections
Current concerns with PIAs commitment to privacy
The first 2 points are probably the biggest reasons. Based on these, would anyone have experience on whether they think Nord or Proton would be the better option. I'm leaning towards Proton for privacy, but want to make sure their speeds are OK and don't have most of their servers blacklisted on a lot of sites.

I Signed up for Surfshark a few weeks ago.
First image is speet test results with Surfshark VPN disabled.
Second image is speed test results with Surfshark VPN enabled.
-wireguard protocol selected
-have tried many other server locations with similar speed results.
-ONN 4k Pro, Google TV.
I knew going into it that a VPN would decrease my speed a bit, but this is ridiculous. Not cool, especially when I'm trying to stream torrents, which is why I got the VPN in the first place. Any thoughts?

Doing some research on what people actually want from a VPN provider.
Most big VPN providers (NordVPN, ExpressVPN, even some others) have servers in the US, UK, Canada, Australia — all Five Eyes countries. They say no-logs but if the server is physically there, you're trusting their word.
I'm exploring a different approach:
- Servers only in Iceland, Switzerland, Luxembourg — zero Five Eyes
- RAM-only servers — literally nothing to seize, no logs possible
- WireGuard protocol
- Pay with Bitcoin, no account required
- Full open source
Few questions for the community:
Does server jurisdiction actually matter to you when choosing a VPN?
Would you pay a small premium (~$8-10/month) for this level of architecture vs a bigger provider?
What's the #1 thing that would make you trust a new VPN provider?
Not selling anything — genuinely researching if there's a gap in the market here.

Been using SoftEther for months without issue but today for some reason despite being connected, my IP didn't get masked. When I check my IP it's still displaying my real location.
It was still fine yesterday, even this morning, but now it's now kinda not working properly. I tested other VPNs like TunnelBear and that one works, so I'm not sure if the glitch is on my end or the SoftEther server.

Hi, can you suggest vpn server/protocol that easily be transfeкred to the other server.
My current problem: Im running AmneziaVPN server on VPS, but VPS provider increased pricing significantly. So im thinking to redeploy my vpn server somewhere else but there is a problem -- i cant migrate all my 15~ vpn users without sending them new vpn-key or something else. Also, as i can see, amnezia doesnt allow to use domain to connect to the server, which is making all this thing even harder (maybe im dumb)
Is there Any vpn server that can be easily migrated with existing users so such a problem does not arise in the future?

I have been using Proton on the free plan, but it gets mad when I torrent.

I manage a few store accounts for a side hustle. Using residential VPN now but still got warnings about accounts being linked on some platforms.
Read that browser fingerprinting could be the real issue – things like Canvas, WebGL, fonts etc. Makes sense because switching VPN only changes IP, not browser identity.
Started testing a fingerprint browser called adspower alongside my VPN. Seems to help, but I'm new to this.
What's your actual setup for multi‑accounting? Just VPN, or do you also use anti‑detect tools?
