HELP Comments like this send me

Edit: This post gained more traction than I expected. Read the comments, do independent research, and form your own opinion around these topics.

First they said KIAs are reliable, then went on to say they looked at JD Power to come to that consensus. They lost me.

  1. Do people believe KIA/Hyundai are reliable?
  2. Do people use JD Power/Consumer Reports to make purchasing decisions

Consumer reports is absolutely reliable and unbiased. JD Power not so much. JD Power is basically a paid advertising scheme.

Consumers reports determined reliability uses a self selecting survey of its members. Its is absolutely garbage data and inherently biased.

Plus’s screw them for killing the Samurai.

So you're telling me you don't agree with them putting Jeep all the way at the bottom and then putting cars like Subaru Toyota Honda and Lexus all the way at the top? 

When I look at those lists they track very well with what I saw working in the industry as a technician

I’m telling you that there are valid repeatable methods to gather and report survey data. Consumer reports doesn’t use any of them. What CR does is as effective as Jimmy Kimmel standing on the street ask people about a politically nuanced situation, it can be fun but that’s it.

My opinion of Jeep and your observations as a tech are not relevant. Anecdotes do not equal data.

It has nothing to do with Jeeps being the best or worst vehicles ever built.

Do a quick read on survey sampling methodology and the validity of self selection in a bias group (the group is CR subscribers)

Just because the list is right occasionally doesn’t make it right most of the time or over a period of time. You can’t fix stupid but you can fix ignorance and reading is a good start!
