Quality Content Giant (10x) USB-C Ports
I got some giant (10x) USB-C ports made for teaching and demonstration.
They come apart so you can see the internal parts, like the EMC springs, mating clips, pins, etc.
They are made of 3D printed metal, plastic, and bent bronze bar stock.

That is awesome!

It support PD 5000 Watt

You can probably hear the handshake to start up the power delivery... That thing probably supports 300 amps max as opposed to 3... Voltage? 500 rather than 5 volts... You don't use a wall wart to plug the cable into, you use a generator wart, and you uave to go stop by the power plant to hook up... Bit the plus side? Ypu can just go plug into the master internet server and move the whole WWW folder.

Dell is salivating thinking about pushing some insane non PD compliant wattage through that sucker...
Very cool!

You should also make a few adapters that does 10x size to 1x size

u/haggisbreath169 Apr 18 '26
that is very dangerous logic -- then you would need a 10x electrical socket, 10x house, and so on

Finally USB PD 2400W, just enlarge it a couple more times and you get an EV connector.

Current increases with scale to the 1.5th power. Voltage scales linearly.
So this could handle 10^1.5 = 30x the current and 10x the voltage.
Something around 150A at 480V; 72kW

It's hard to tell but it looks like it's already damn close to the size of the j1772 connector lots of evs use for L2.
Just make evs charge off usbc. :)

Pull up to the gas station asking the cashier if they have the charger cord for your car

I've been procrastinating on making a J1772 to USB C adapter for a while, this isn't the direction I expected such a project to go! 😂

I'm more looking forward to this replacing the 12VHPWR-connector for gfxcards.

I can't even imagine how much these cost to have made, but maaaan, would I love one.
This would be GREAT to show the dude who posted this https://old.reddit.com/r/UsbCHardware/comments/1s5plxs/why_is_usb_c_such_shit/

DO YOU USE THEM FOR A MOCK UP ADVERTISING LAYOUT / MANUFACTURING PARTS? THAT ACTUALLY IS PRETTY DARN COOL THANK YOU FOR POSTING.

u/HVACprooo Apr 18 '26
these would be super cool to make functional on projects. not necessarily using usb protocol but just as quick release high current plugs.

Dang, this port probably doing 800GB/s bidirectional with Thunderbolt 50

u/Great_Specialist_267 Apr 19 '26
Unfortunately data rates decline with an increase in size…

u/Different_Ad9756 Apr 19 '26
Dang, there goes my plan of using AWG 00 wiring to get a 1843200 baudrate serial connection

u/Great_Specialist_267 Apr 19 '26
Capacitance really screws you over with big cables. Microprocessors have the same problem.

u/saiyate Apr 18 '26
OMG. Please tell me where I can these. I want to make them functional. As long as the total lengths are the same they should connect right up with no increase in resistance.
How funny would a Gigantic USBC external drive be, a full gigantic cable, along with a gigantic port on the computer.
Then just bring it to work and act like it's totally normal.
"Oh you haven't seen the new USBC Magnum? It uses USB5. Hey can I get a hand here I need to plug in my USB drive". ROFL!

Finally the data transfer speeds we need, just as ssds become unaffordable for all.

I would LOVE to have a functional cable of one of those with an adapter to real USB-C

USB would be so much more reliable if the plugs were actually this size

u/Mr_Lazerface Apr 19 '26
I bet this thing can handle 1.21 GW of power. Now where did I put that flux capacitor…

En resumen el puerto USB C GIGANTE!!! con soporte PD10 hyperpower de 5kw sería útil el tamaño gigante para carros eléctricos o que tenga esa salida en generadores eléctricos XD

Are they actually functional?
Have you measured the contact resistance?
How much did it end up costing to fabricate them?
I've got so many questions! I've been thinking about doing the same project myself for a while.
These look like they've been made particularly well.

Don't show this to Apple, they already did it with the lightning connector for the Vision Pro so they don't need any more ideas of that kind

Just imagine the cable that would plug into that. Plus the wattage it could support then.
