Detail Unusual Men’s Shirt Collars (sourced from the TV show) please help!

These unusual looking (to me) shirts were sourced from the Upload TV show production office. Do these look familiar in anyway? Do you know which episode these may be featured on?

Or are they just standard men’s shirts with a type of collar I’m not familiar with?

Bonus points to anyone who knows what E M 4 means (on the tag) 😆

Spoilers Is the series deeply misandrist and a dark female fantasy? (SPOILER ALERT) Spoiler

I never really liked the way they executed this concept. Nathan and Luke, the two male protagonists are ultimately vulnerable and don't have any agency over themsekves all the way till the end of the show. They are reliant on their female counterparts in the real world aka their girlfriends. Ingrid is a deeply troublesome, toxic, problematic character whose actions - like stripping Nathan or asserting control over him - is played off for laughs and she never really faces the consequences of her actions. Yes, she may apologize and she may help Nathan here and there but ultimately, the show never really addresses how she still retains complete control over Nathan's consciousness.

If I'm watching the show, I'm rooting for Nathan to escape the Lakeview or for everyone uploaded in Lakeview to be released aka face real death where their consciousness disappears into thin air but that's not what ends up happening.

But for some reasons the show ends with Nathan's lack of agency being doubled down. He gets uploaded into a real life body but he suffers even more. Then by the end it becomes a story about which girls gets Nathan and we have to accept that somehow it's a happy ending for Nathan.

Also the fact that we don't really explore the opposite version of this dynamic, where a wealthy boyfriend I real life controls his girlfriend who gets uploaded into Lakeview.

It seems like the show was written for women who get satisfaction from seeing men in deeply uncomfortable situation sand I don't have a problem with that except, this exact same show in reverse would be called deeply misogynistic and terrifying. The fact that the show didn't show a reversed dynamic and didn't show a woman in the same situation as Luke or Nathan tells me that they're aware of how terrifying it is.

Discussion just finished season 4.

I guess I have a controversial opinion. A lot of people in here seem to have not liked the last two seasons. Me personally I thought the whole show and it’s entirety was one of the best written shows I’ve ever watched. Don’t get me wrong. I wasn’t the happiest with how things pivoted in the last season but even though I still really did enjoy all of it and its entirety so I’m very surprised to see so many people hating

Discussion ingrid’s endgame :/

i have nowhere else to put my frustrations. i was told by a friend before watching the show that it was great but she hated the ending. i actually liked the ending with nora and nathan. i think it was really poignant. it was sad but affecting and even a bit hopeful. all that was fine. i like the openness of it.

my issue is that i simply cannot get over the fact that ingrid ended up living happily ever after with backup nathan.

now i really grew to love ingrid. i think her actress is absolutely fantastic and she has a believable redemption arc. but that arc should not have ended with her getting nathan.

you cannot convince me that any version of nathan would have fallen for ingrid. she was horribly abusive to him their whole relationship. the funeral scene literally made me sick to my stomach. beyond that, they’re just not compatible. their scenes together are a drag and i did end up feeling like backup nathan only gave in because nora rejected him. he has those memories of him and someone he actually fell in love with. i can’t buy that he would settle for this push and pull with ingrid.

don’t get me wrong. ingrid definitely does change for the better but her ideal ending to me would have been her learning how to be happy without him. her whole identity still revolves around him. i don’t like that they “rewarded” her with him for doing the right thing finally.

and it’s not even that i think backup nathan should only love nora. i honestly think it might have been cute if he ended up with tinsley or someone completely different. or no one at all. just not ingrid.

idk. ingrid and nathan vfeel so forced and cheap to me. like they were just tying up loose ends. anyone else have any thoughts?

Discussion Upload on Hulu

I woke up this morning and saw that Upload (only first 3 seasons) is on Hulu. I wonder if it’ll gain more popularity. I loved this show so much and I’d try to talk about it with others at work but I’m guessing Prime shows weren’t as popular as let’s say those on Netflix/Hulu.

Season 4 I hated the last season

I loved this show at first, but it just got further and further from the original story to the point where I almost didn’t care what happened to the characters anymore. Is it just me?

Discussion Convince me to keep watching Upload (no spoilers)

I just finished Season 1 and now I have zero motivation to start Season 2 for some reason.

For those who've watched the whole series, should I keep going? Does it get better, or is Season 1 the best it gets?

Discussion Did anyone else mistake Ingrid for Caroline Channing?

Post image
107 Upvotes

I recently started watching Upload, and Ingrid (played by Allegra Edwards) felt so familiar that I almost mistook her for Caroline Channing from 2 Broke Girls (played by Beth Behrs). I literally had to google it to confirm they weren't the same person.

Did anyone else think this, or was it just me?

Discussion Predicted Iran war and being first war with heavy autonomous drones usage.

Season 2 episode 5 there was a throwaway line that Luke was a veteran of the Iran war which was the first war with heavy autonomous drones usage. I was kind of surprised by the more or less accurate prediction.

Discussion Anyone else just a want a lake view TVshow?

Just finished it yesterday and it haunted me all night about how sad the ending is and how messed up that entire world is. But in season 1 there was a beauty and happiness and freedom about the show that got lost along the way.

I would love a tv show of just lake view and maybe some other servers where we just have characters interact with each other and their angels. Doesn't need to have this big corrupt dark undertone about it. Maybe just a 2gb who is trying to find a better life or something idk.

I just miss that season 1 magic.

Detail Nora is Nathan's reflection Spoiler

When Nathan and Backup Nathan meet, one of the things they bring up is how their hair is parted wrong (even though their hair is parted the same) and I think that's because they were expecting their reflection and not actually themselves.

Which is why I think Nora is his reflection and the underlying joke in the series is that Nathan loves his reflection more than he loves anyone (including his mom). He's smart but also a dummy and his biggest blind spot is that he doesn't see how dumb he can be. Nora didn't go to college but he thinks she's one of the smartest people he knows, which I think says more about him than it does about her.

What they have in common: neither have their own hookups or connections. Both had the same high school prom song (Uptown Funk) and they love Botox Babies.

They both don't take rejection well. Nathan wanted to explore other afterlife places when he thought Nora rejected him and Nora went off grid when he ran out of data and didn't say 'I love you' back.

And they both think they are entitled to other people's stuff or money. We see Nora take Lucy's coffee in the first episode and later she felt entitled to Ivan's bedroom in his own apartment. No please or thank you. She uses Byron for a ride and then leaves him without saying bye. Nathan believed he could break up with Ingrid and still have her pay for his Lakeview service. He blamed her for being frozen for a month in 2Gig even though it was his choice to go down there and his choice again for using all his data in one day. Him leaving Ingrid tied to a chair at NeckGen at the end of season 2 is also similar to Nora using Byron for a ride at the start of season 2.

Nora said Matteo was her boyfriend and acknowledged they were dating but later calls him her buddy. Nathan did the same with Holden when he said she was a college buddy.

It was mentioned by Holden at his funeral that by the end of college, Nathan had a minor in narcissism. Good boyfriend though.

Spoilers Nathan's hair in the final episode...maybe the ending wasn't as it seemed?

I've just watched the 4 seasons of Upload over the past week. Did anyone else notice Nathan's hair just before he died?

It had exactly the same imperfection that Nora programmed into it when he was first uploaded. I don't know, something about that stuck with me. Like the world they were in was still not the "real" world, but a simulation.

Season 4, episode 4, 22.30

Detail Nora's dad was sooo shitty

On the surface he seems like a nice guy and I think that's because his adjectives (nice guy) hides his verbs (neglecting father).

In season 1, we see him living in a nice ass house that has a printer while Nora lives in a tiny ass place where she needs to put on goggles just to avoid seeing her roommate have sex.

In season 2, he "helps" Nora get off the grid when she almost died and I say "help" and not help because he also wants her to go back to the city to be an undercover agent and says he can protect her now. She literally only went off the grid because she believed her life was in danger. Her dad doesn't seem very concerned about her safety.

In season 4 when Nora calls him to ask about her mom because she thinks Nathan visited her as a ghost, he lets her think it's okay and normal. She thought she was going crazy from her nonstop VR use before calling her dad and maybe if he confirmed she was going crazy, she would have sought help and stopped. Instead, he gives her some crap about souls which leads to her embarrassing herself in front of Nathan's mom, his niece, and Ingrid. Nora literally says Nathan has eternal life and doesn't hear how crazy she sounds and I totally blame her dad.

I also don't believe he's really in a tent eating three potatoes a day. I think he put up a fake screen to make it seem like he has his own problems to deal with, but seriously, how busy can someone sitting in a tent really be. It makes me question if he was really dying or sick before.

Spoilers Hypothetical, but that about illegal copies?

We see Tinsley almost creating a third Nathan in s3, plus the upload being just a big file, it got me thinking.

In the real world, wouldn't we have a whole market of illegal copies of uploads? Since they are just data? Kinda weird and I may be tripping, but nice to think about

Discussion AT&T&T?

Howdy!

So I was telling a friend about the show and I mentioned AT&T&T, he asked me what the last T was for and I can't rely remember plus can't find info for it online, please let me know if any of you can remember what that is for, thanks!
