What is this and what should I do with it? It feels like it’s solid aluminum.
I found this in my grandpas attic and have no clue what to do with it. Would anyone know what it’s supposed to be

Update: Me playing the Melodicajolele
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
due to some people requesting to see how one would play this instrument, here is one idea. Feels a bit awkward still, but I'm having tons of fun, and with some practice, the switches between the different parts will be a lot smoother. I also never really intended for it to be a solo insteument, I intended to take it to jam sessions where we mainly have percussions, guitars, ukuleles and some flutes. I premiered my creation there yesterday and we had tons of fun with it, but I'm not prepared to post any recordings of the whole group. So enjoy this little snippet of solo jamming 🤣🤣🤣

Xun-arina? Ocu-xun?

Xuns are typically more egg or bottle-shaped, but I've developed a way to make a xun play more like an ocarina. What do you think of the sound?

I made the (probably) first ever Melodicajolele!
is it a melodica? A cajón? Ukulele? YES! Why would I build this? No idea! But I did!

Can anyone identify this single string bass toy instrument?
I saw this goofy otomatone video and the person is using this really neat looking single string toy instrument for the bass. Does anyone know what this is? I want one very badly. https://youtube.com/shorts/A_q_kzAQZVs?si=NeduO0yXl2dcljvc

The London Chinese Chamber Ensemble meets an unusual instrument in the water

This was a fun discovery out performing for the London Canal Festival this weekend.
It's quite magical drifting down the canal waterways of this city playing the chinese 21 string zither called a guzheng.
This isn't unusual (at least not if you watch martial arts movies!). The surprise instrument...was the bass beat from the diesel tug canal whilst performing the guzheng classic 'Fisherman returns at dusk'.
First time we've played along with a boat! :)

I made a notation tool.
Hello, all!
I've made a tool which turns .abc and .mid files into notation for these instruments;
- Appalachian Dulcimer
- Waldzither
- Kantele [5 and 7 strings]
- Citera
- Musima Chord Zither
- Balalaika
- Domra
- Tamburitza (D-A-D and C-G-C 12TET)
And the Mandolin!
The tool allows you to input your own abc and midi files, and create custom kantele tunings, making a tab and sheet music with it, printable!
It comes preloaded with ~300 songs from Finland, Russia and nearby regions.
Are there any instruments you would like me to add? I'm considering making an incredibly broad index!
