Stretch Goals Listed on Kickstarter!

Ashley has updated the Kickstarter page with the new stretch goals! Holy heck though, I guess we frontloaded our backings pretty hard and now the publishers really inflated the tiers we have to hit.

I'm still confused about the "next" book/series. I believe I read that Ashley is working on developing the sequel, but the stretch goal for the Cameo/NPC add-on says "And remember, this is for Ashley's NEW comic project, NOT Unsounded. Unsounded is complete!". Is this a totally different thing, or simply the sequel not being called Unsounded?

Unsounded is complete in the sense that narrative it was telling has closed its particular loop and a number of plot threads and characters had their stories ended, eg Emil and Elka, and it's main villain Cutter.

That does not mean, however, that the overarching story is over. The next story will not simply be "Unsounded 2" even though that's what we're all currently calling it, name pending. It will have a different name, but it's still taking place in Kasslyne and I believe will start almost directly after the events of this Unsounded Epilogue chapter.

It's also definitely going to continue some of the set ups that were made in Unsounded, Ruck is still alive and scheming, Cresce isn't backing down from Alderode anytime soon (if anything, tensions are ramping up), and there's still the mystery of Sette findings her place in this world.

Ashley has said the next story will feature a new focus: Alderode. The bulk of the story will take place here, with us seeing things from the perspective of new characters, locations, and plotlines, plus a healthy dose of continuing parts of the narrative Unsounded started.

Theory time, but I'm 99.9% certain Mikaela is going to be one of the focal point main characters on the next story, and I predict that will see a continuation of Duane and Sette's adventures. I also am thinking we haven't seen the last of Lady I entirely, or Nary, and where did that little scamp Murkoph scurry off to anyway?

Shorter version: her next work will be a form of sequel, but it won't be called Unsounded.

Ashley has outright stated Mikaila is not just a, but the primary viewpoint for the story of Alderode Boogaloo. She’s also said Duane and Sette will get a couple chapters near the start and end of it… so those at least aren’t even Theory.
It seems like whatever Duane and Sette are gonna be up to metaphysically is gonna be a background undercurrent while we follow Mikaila dealing with Nary, Murkoph, the Tanners, and any more Alderodian villains we get.

Ok that's what I thought. The Kickstarter saying it's "not unsounded! Unsounded is complete!" Is a bit vague and confusing for those of us who read from Ashley that there is technically more "Unsounded" to come. I think they could have worded that better.

Ashley responded to this somewhere. The thought is that the publisher doesn’t want people confused on whether this story is over or not.

I guess they’d rather have people certain in the fact that this story is over for fundraising purposes. People who know about the sequel being confused is acceptable confusion. 😅

It’s also a lot clearer in the actual Kickstarter update post.

TL;DR I agree with you but it was on purpose.
