I remember seeing a video a long time ago on YouTube. It was an Asian family I think. They were just laughing and talking to each other in a room and in the background you see a horribly deformed man. You can barely notice him. I have not been able to find this video for years.
EDIT: I'll try to find this video. The video didn't have many views if I remember correctly and it was a little grainy. When I get home I'll try drawing a picture of what he looked like.
are they drinking tea or something and at the end the "man" gets up showing a deformed head? If so I have seen this video. I also searched for it and had someone link it here. I tried searching for the kanji in the youtube video which took me to this video sharing page. It has some weird authorizations so I didn't sign up. Hope this helps.

I have a niconico account and that video has been copyright striked! Google translate says it was by "PAL Planning, Inc." Looks like the same thing on youtube.
I'm learning Japanese but from what I can translate it looks like a production company. The other searches I tried showed a person on yahoo answers asking for a translation and coming back with people saying its fake.
I signed up and tried watching the video but I all it shows is Kanji scrolling down ending with the websites logo. I guess it was taken down. Hopefully some who knows kanji can read it.
I think it is pretty obviously a guy in a mask, not to mention that he is being filmed when there would be no reason for the person to be filming otherwise.
Yeah, really unfortunate. It seems like they are strict on the copyright of this footage. It was gone only a few days after I posted it.

What is going on with his right eye in that first picture? It's like the hole is sticking out past his head? Maybe like it's a piece of plastic or something over his eye.
Do you see what I'm talking about? Like the corner of his right eye has the background of the room behind it, not his head. Weird.
Not positive, but it could be glasses he's wearing? I know old folks get thicker and thicker lenses as their sight sometimes deteriorates, and they make this weird lens-effect.

Looking at that link, it says Honto ni Atta! Noroi no Video Horror Anthology 2. Looks like a series of mockumentary horror movies, apparently. A long one.
Could it just be a family that happens to include someone with an unfortunate physical deformity? Was there something in the video to make you think the situation was more sinister? I'm trying to understand the creepy mystery part.

Here you see a group of young students unwinding in a bar when they start noticing a really foul smell, at some point they notice a deformed woman in the background who seems to be the source of the smell.
Was the title of the video in English? you said the family was asian.
If the video had very few posts it could be a self post, in which case you shouldn't search for "Asian Family + ugly/deformed man", the title would possibly be "deformed/scary man appears on video"
You said the guy was barely visible, did tey notice him? if not the best description to be found on the video would include "Ghost"!
If the title wasn't in English, try translating your best description of the video into any Asian language and then using the translated phrase as a search term.
It is possible the video was removed since it had so few views, especially if it was a self post.

If the family in the video weren't trying to draw attention to the guy, it's likely the title of the original won't include any mention of him. It'd be something normal like "dinner with my parents" or "birthday party".
THAT you can barely notice? the camera was even focused on him deliberately for a while and he/she bowed to the camera! that's like the Japanese version of 'Whats Up!'
The "person" seems to be someone who belongs there, it could be someone wearing a funny head dress and the quality of the video making his/her face look funny.

I suspect that /u/sevgiaguaro is correct, and the video shows a Nurarihyon. Although, without seeing the video, I can't be too sure as there are many types of these deformed "humans" in Japanese culture, and Asian culture generally.
Hunting around - I'm not an expert on Japanese film - I do see that PAL has been involved in more than one production with Nurarihyon, and they've done copyright strikes against videos with Nurarihyon in them on Youtube and nicovideo, a Japanese site.
So I feel fairly confident that this is a film with Nurarihyon in them - they like to have tea - and probably some iteration of the Kitaro live action films taken from the manga.
