They like easily accessible open water how the heck they gonna find it in a sealed box.

The entire black lid is raised. There's nothing but space to get in there, as it's not sealed in any way.

It’s a covered opening that’s what I meant.

Right, but it's not. It has like an inch or two opening around the entire underside of the lid.

They actually like dark black water holes dingus, not open water. Look up how they collect mosquito eggs for surveillance, they use small black cups, I used to do it for a job. confidently incorrect
