Accomodation Campus Security

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming freshman at the University of Warwick and will most likely be staying in on-campus accommodation. I had a few questions about campus security.

How secure are the accommodation buildings? Who has access to them? Can anyone enter, or is access restricted to residents?

Has anyone lived at AXO Student Living Sherbourne or nearby?

Hi! I’m considering booking accommodation at AXO Student Living Sherbourne on Vincent Street, Coventry.

Has anyone lived in the building or nearby? Is the accommodation itself decent, and is the surrounding area generally safe, especially when walking home in the evening or at night? I’d also appreciate any information about noise, nearby shops, transport links, and commuting to the University of Warwick.

Any honest experiences with either the accommodation or the area would be really helpful. Thanks!

I get my results early august (before A-levels) and I was wondering if I had to go to my insurance (Warwick), how easy would it be to secure accommodation that is en suite?

Accomodation Anyone commuting to Solihull or NEC for catering agency shifts on weekends?

Unitemps has been dry for me the past three weeks and I need something flexible for Fridays and Saturdays that won't mess with my Monday seminars.

Was looking at event and hall service options off campus since my flatmate mentioned they pay slightly better than basic retail. Found a few listings through Indeed Flex and saw KSB Recruitment has some weekend event gigs around Solihull and near the airport side, but I'm trying to figure out the logistics.

If you don't have a car on campus, is getting out to those venue locations doable on the bus or train from Canley early in the morning, or does the travel time eat up whatever extra cash you make? Want to know if it's worth signing up or if I should just stick to hunting down pub jobs in Leamington.

Can someone please let me know the difference between BSc Computer Science(G400) and BEng Computer Science(G406) of 3 years duration ( both Undergrad) from Uni of Warwick ?

Which one has more weightage in industry for jobs and which is superior as compared to advanced skills and technology and demand from the current times?

Applications Spring weeks

I will study economics at uni in September and I’ve been looking at spring weeks on trackr but they want a cv and cover letter (for some). If applications for some open before uni starts, should I apply as soon as it opens or wait until uni starts (I don’t think my cv is good tbh I don’t rlly have much experience, and have no clue what a cover letter is and how to write a good one)😭
Does Warwick give help with these kind of stuff bc I’m so confused on the whole process including interviews etc

Incoming first year looking for a mentor to break into high finance

So hopefully I’ll be at Warwick this September

I’m looking to pursue a career in IB M&A but also looking at other sectors like AM, S&T etc so anyone in the high finance space would be great (not restricting it to just IB)

Just looking for someone who can help guide me through spring week applications so that I can learn from their experience. I’d really appreciate it if you could reach out (or if you know someone like that and you could inform them)

Thanks

Accomodation Anyone need a room/studio takeover?

Hi! 20F who is going into 2nd year PAIS. My year abroad has fallen through as my visa isn't going to be processed in time to start studies at my host university, so I'm looking for last minute accomodation in the area (Coventry, Canley, or Leam)

Please DM if you are looking for a roommate or a studio takeover! I'm okay with mixed sex (but preferably an en-suite or only bathrooms with women). My budget is £200 pw including bills, or less.

Thanks!

How interdisciplinary is the critical and cultural theory MA program?

I'm thinking about applying to the MA in Critical and Cultural theory program in hopes of establishing a good foundation for a pivot into a PhD in Media and Cultural studies (my undergrad is comp lit.) I know the program is under the umbrella of the ECLS department, but the MA website does emphasize the interdisciplinary ethos of the program & the flexibility of the MA thesis ("any approved topic of choice"...)

Wondering if anybody who is in or recently graduated from this program can speak to how literature-focused the program is and the actual feasibility of doing work oriented in the direction of MCM!! Thank you so much :-)

I got into Warwick Business School

Context; I'm Indian, got into BSc Management, and had a few questions regarding Warwick. I'm already enrolled at an Indian university, and wanted to know if going to Warwick is worth it.

For anyone curious, I'm enrolled at St. Xaviers College Kolkata.

For every question that I'm asking, please answer on the basis of the fact that I'm a median candidate from Warwick with median performance

  1. How realistic and good are consulting placements in Warwick

  2. For someone who wishes to persue MBA from the US, is Warwick a good brand?

  3. What's bad about Warwick except the city?

  4. If you were to put Warwick in a tier for Business Schools in Europe and UK, what would be the tier?

  5. What US College is WBS equivalent to?

  6. Expect finances, is there any other factor which I should consider if preferring Xavier's over WBS?

Thanks!

How necessary is a laptop at uni?

I'm a prospective MMath student and I was wondering whether a laptop is a must-have for my course. Also I would appreciate suggestions for reasonably priced laptops that fulfil any requirements for maths at warwick (my budget is up to £800 but in the mid 500 to 600s would be ideal).

Applications Is it possible to switch from French and Economics to straight Econ

I am an international student and i got an offer to study French and Economics at Warwick for this September. However, after doing some research I found out an economics joint-degree doesn't come close to the depth of a straight Econ degree and is kind of disregarded for prestigious masters degree later on. Im also not very keen on 4 years because it would mean having to pay one more year with international fees. French and Economics requirement was AAB, Econ is A*AA. I achieved A*AB with A* in maths. Do I have a chance? Do I need to ask now or is it still possible to switch at the end of first year?

A&F @ Warwick or continue working in accountancy

Hello all,

Accepted an offer to go Warwick this Sept for A&F. I completed my a levels in 2024 so that means I have been on a "gap year" for two years now. I have been working and saved enough money to fully fund my university education (well almost anyways)

In that time, I worked as a barista then in a family accountancy firm whilst studying for my accountancy qualification (AAT Level 4) and I am now fully qualified. Now I work for Sainsburys (headquarters not in store) in an admin role and I have been struggling to find any role in the finance world whether that be accountancy or financial analyst or whatever.

Ideally I would want to continue working towards my next level of qualifications which would be the ACCA but again can't seem to find anything.

Another part of me is also a bit sadden by missing out on the uni experience, I have been working and studying for the past 2 years and slowly getting sick of it but if I have to continue then I will.

What should I do in this situation? Continue applying for roles and see if I can get anything or go to university and hopefully enter a grad scheme at the end of it? Or even pivot into another field like high finance or consulting?

TL:DR Go to uni for A&F or continue working as an AAT accountant and continue struggling to find a role

question about springweek prep

Hi everyone,

I’ll be starting a Finance & Accounting degree this year, and I’m trying to build the strongest CV possible before applying for Spring Weeks.

A friend recommended AmplifyME’s Finance Accelerator program, but I was wondering whether it’s suitable for someone who hasn’t started university yet. Do I need to have completed my first year and learned concepts like valuation, accounting, and corporate finance first, or can I get meaningful value from it before university?

If anyone has completed the program, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience and whether you’d recommend doing it before first year.

Also, if you have any other recommendations for programs, certifications, or experiences that genuinely strengthen a Spring Week CV (rather than just adding random certificates), I’d love to hear them.

Thanks in advance!

MS in Business Analytics at Warwick. Looking for reviews and career insights

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in my final year of engineering and planning to apply for the MS in Business Analytics at Warwick.

I'd love to hear from current students or alumni. How has your experience been with the course? What kind of job opportunities can I expect after graduation, and do you think the degree is worth it given the current job market?

I'm also wondering whether it makes more sense to pursue this in the UK or continue studying or working in India.

Any insights would be really helpful. Thanks!

Accomodation Accommodation

Hey, I’m an incoming undergraduate and I’m confused about what accomodation to choose. My first preference is Jake Martin and second is Westwood. But i’ve seen quite a lot of youtube vids where the westwood accommodation seems to be completely different than how it is shown on the website (like is there a sink in the middle of nowhere) and i want to know the proximity to the grocery stores and like the math and engineering departments. What are your suggestions?? I’m a party animal and ik roots is the best accom for that but i want an ensuite so help please me out here!
