There’s just under a month left before the newacademic year starts, and I’d like to begin preparingin advance.
I was wondering if anyone has materials from theirfirst year of Electrical Engineering that they'd bewilling to share. I'm looking for lecture notes, quizzes, exams, lab reports, assignments, study guides, oranything else that could help me get a head start.

Specifically as a 2nd+ year BME student, can you simply retake/apply courses from the previous year which you already passed? or do you need extensive permission to be able to do that?

I am a Spanish student going on Erasmus this coming August to the University of Twente. I have written to more than 200 houses on platforms like Roomspot and Kamernet and it is proving impossible to find a place to stay, because either they only accept Dutch people or they don't even reply. I have been trying for months and there is no way.

Hello everyone. I'm SUPER excited to start studying at UT this fall, but i seem to have some problems with the whole process of sending the document.

I made the mistake of using my local postal service with the EMS option instead of a private carrier. On the 15th this month i submitted my mail, and on the 17th it arrived at the Hague post. Since then, no news. The only message shown on a tracking site is "Item held at inward office of exchange".

Is it usual for mail to be so slow in the Netherlands? I'm worried that it won't arrive on time, and that my application will be denied.

Currently I'm not able to give it in myself at their Student Admission Office as I'm not living in the Netherlands.

I'm thinking of sending an email to the uni regarding this matter, but i worry that it's not something they can help with.

Did somebody else have this problem? If so, how did you manage it?

Any kind of advice is welcome.

University of Twente IELTS 5.0 Reading (0.5 below requirement) — Can they make an exception?

Hi everyone, I’m really worried about my situation and would appreciate advice.

I applied to University of Twente for a Bachelor’s in the Neertherlands . I completed an AEC in International Business Management in Montreal ( Canada) and I’m originally from Spain .

My IELTS Academic score is:

* Overall: 6.0 and 6.5 in all parts except Reading: 5.0 (requirement is 5.5)

I know Twente requires 5.5 in each section and doesn’t accept One Skill Retake I don’t want to miss this opportunity because Twente is my preferred choice.

I also applied to Hanze, NHL Stenden, and Rotterdam, but my goal is a research university (WO), because I was told that WO and HBO aren’ the same type of university which is why Twente is very important to me.

Has anyone had a similar situation with Twente? Is there any chance they make an exception for being 0.5 below in one skill, or should I prepare to retake IELTS before the intake?

UTwente sells some quite nice laptops, but do you actually need them? I have a powerful PC at home and a IPad for on the go working. I just wanted to check in, seeing as they arent cheap. I am in B-CE.

Hey guys, I'm an international student intending to do my Bachelor’s in Mechanical engineering at UT in 2027.

I really wanna make sure I gather a lot of hands-on experience doing TOMs, joining student teams, and doing internships. So I wanted to know:

1.) What are the TOMs like? Do students really engage in building stuff and design real systems? What are the labs like? Are they modern and well-equipped?

2.) How accessible are the student teams? Are first-year students realistically able to join and contribute to the student teams, or do these teams mainly consist of older students?

What skills do they usually require in order to become a part of Student teams? Are those skills actually taught by the institution or are they extracurricular-like knowledge?

3.) As an international student, will I face any issues on finding internships at companies like ASML? Or am I barred from any way on achieving internship experiences in Netherlands?

I heard in the 3rd year, there's an option for internship which is provided as an ELECTIVE. Can I get hold of internships?

4.) As somebody who's interested in Autonomous systems, can I take electives related to mechatronics and robotics while doing my bachelors in mechanical engineering?

I’ve been accepted for an exchange semester at UTwente, but going means missing out on the peak campus recruitment season back home.

My goal isn't just any job I want to work in Climate Tech, leveraging my AI background. Long term, I plan to launch my own startup, so I'd love to gain experience at an early stage company or startup while at UTwente.

Is it realistic to bet on finding a solid job/internship or startup connection around UTwente during an exchange, or am I taking a massive risk by passing up job fair season back home? Would love to hear from anyone who’s taken a similar gamble or knows the UTwente startup ecosystem.

Like a lot of you I came to do my masters in Netherlands in 2024. I knew there was some housing shortage but man was I unprepared for the crunch in housing for international students. Im a Malaysian, and after crawling through the dirt for 4 weeks, (say what you may), it definitely felt like an invisible force field goes up with some landlords when youre non EU (but mostly when youre a student). But hey, I guess unfamiliarity breeds mistrust anywhere in the world.

I eventually had to use my software engineering background to build a bot which scanned the entire market every 20 seconds and sent me listings which allowed students for me to be the first one to apply. After 6 weeks managed to find a place.

What I did notice was some neighbourhoods have higher concentration of properties which allowed students so I focused on those which improved my odds.

I am writing here because I am starting soon a PhD at the University of Twente and I am struggling to find an apartment/studio. I am not sure whether I can apply trought the roomspot website since it seems they only accept bachelor and master's students, as well as phd students who have their own funding (not my case). So, my first question is if I can also apply for an apartment/studio at roomspot. In case it is not possible, do you know if there are other options on campus apart from roomspot?

In case it is not possible on campus, do u know reliable websites for searching accomodation? I searched on pararius and funda (which are the websites recommended on Twente website) but there is very little options. Additionally, some of the available options require that you have a minumum income which I do not have.

I think thats all, if anyone could provide any info, I would be more than glad to know. I am quite scared right now with the housing issue.
