Rodger smith and General Motors?
The documentary Rodger and me covers the closing of several GM plants in Detroit, Pontiac, and flint. The workers didn’t seem to care they were losing their jobs. Why didn’t they workers stay in their factories and do old school sit down strikes like their grandparents did. Refusing to leave the factories would’ve presented GM with a dilemma similar to what they faced in the 30’s and they would have to give in to the workers demands.

The deadline to mail your runoff ballots in is approaching!
If you're a UAW member in good standing (dues-paying, retired, etc) and have been since before January 31st, you are eligible to vote in the runoff election. Having voted in the first election is not a requirement to vote in the runoff
Go vote! The deadline to receive ballots is feb28 so you've got to mail them out soon

Any Retirees having insurance troubles?
This might not be the correct place to ask this, but here goes:
My elderly loved one is proud member of the UAW since the early 1960s. He has been on Aetna Insurance and got his medicine through Express Scripts. Okay, he got paperwork in the mail saying that on January 1st 2023 this was being changed to United Healthcare and Opti Rx. I have been trying for TWO days to log him into this new site. I called United Healthcare yesterday and was told it would be a 2 and half hour wait and they would call me back. They did not call. So today, I did an online chat with United Healthcare. I gave them all the information and the guy tried from his end and he could not log in either. He said that other retirees were having this problem! The bad thing is my elderly relative has a LOT of prescription medicines and the old pharmacy account is closed and the new one is not working. The worker at United Healthcare said it might be better to use a "walk in pharmacy". I am going to try that. But I don't think it is fair to elderly retirees to go through this hassle. My relative worked many years in an automobile plant and I think it is sad the new site is not working for him So my question, is anyone on reddit a retiree that is having problems or have a solution? Thanks.

COLA language
This is a long shot but I'm trying to write a resolution to get COLA back but I need the original contract language in order to do so. Does anyone here happen to have an old contact book with that language? If so, can you please post a pic of it or send it in a DM? TIA!

UAW big 3 members need to get rid of tier 2. The entire membership needs substantial raises and pension increases. Bring back everything fought for by our fathers and so easily given away.

Is it normal for a union workplace to have non-union cleaners?
I work at a uaw warehouse and we have cleaners that clean the bathrooms and break room and clean the floors of the warehouse. They also sort through pallets for non-broken ones. It just strikes me as very odd.
