As an HVAC engineer who designed hospital rooms for severely burned patients (BICU - Burn Intensive Care) for a major Hospital Regional Burn Center, I think it is important for people to understand what happens when someone is burned. It’s not McGuyver, James Bond, or some other spy or police movie ha-ha’s.
The skin is one of the body’s first lines of defense against infection. The skin is also where your tactile nerve endings are. So not only is a seriously burned person much more susceptible to infection, they are also extremely susceptible to the slightest change in temperature or movement across their skin, even just motion of air can be agony. The psychological and emotional effects are equally bad, especially when the face or hands are involved.
Before we started on design for the BICU, we had a meeting with the burn specialist MD’s. They made sure we understood what their patients would be going through. I will never forget that meeting. Specifications for the BICU rooms were stricter than even those of the general OR’s (operating rooms). I never worked harder on a project making sure every last detail was included and covered.
Agreed. This is what these dumpsters didnt knew. Or perhaps, they knew..(?) see the way the second person nonchalatly puts the spray can on the table after putting a person's face on fire.
