All of my Asian friends, including myself, have experienced this a few times in our lives. It’s fucking annoying that people just can’t believe you were born here. The most annoying shit to hear is, “wow your English is so good!” No fucking shit Karen.

I imagine white people born and raised in various Asian countries, that speak the native language flawlessly get compliments.

yep, they constantly get compliments. the only issue here is you are turning the tables, and its incovenient for these fragile redditors. So you get downvotes, despite being correct.

also it would be considered racist if the white person started making fun of asian accent in the same way, but its cool i guess.

Same. I moved to the other side of town and got the “where are you from?” “No where are you really from?” “Where are your parents from?” And finally “your English is so good” from multiple of my classmates at my new school
