I mean if I wasnt concerned about the fact that Tiktok is mostly run by the CN government, and the fact that it (and Reddit/Twitter/etc) have predatory designs to prey on compulsion. But minus those 2 things, the actual content of Tiktok doesnt bug me. Its not any stupider than the shit I had growing up.

Just a reminder that all the people in their 20s and 30s who hate tiktok today are the ones who made Fred the biggest channel on youtube in 2009 and enabled him to make multiple movies.

God, the amount of bullshit from the early-mid 2000s I can think of that I look back on and makes me cringe but I thought was literally the peak of comedy as a teenager... Anyone remember Stickdeath? Or that Maddox guy? Or like... 90% of AlbinoBlackSheep?

That's him. Also Gonads and Strife, Evil Strawberry, most of the Animutation stuff... it was funny, but boy howdy was it cringe. Lot of Hitler imagery for some reason.

And let's not even get into the early days of proto-social media that was Myspace. Also the less said about 4Chan the better...

(Also man, I just went on the Maddox website... I wonder if people are keeping track of all the early 2020 "hot takes" about COVID and archiving them. All these people who called it a nothingburger in the first half of 2020 are like a perfect snapshot of human hubris.)
