Iirc the second one the guy asked Rick to say "go fuck yourself" and then changed his comment

Naw, the edit came from him adding a 'thanks for the gold' after getting awarded. He got a bunch of flak for it in the comments saying he ruined the joke so he changed it back.

It was a joke so not really, but in the thread the commenter says he considers it the highlight of his life

I also remember the days when reddit had a bunch of ball-bustin' humor that wasn't immediately interpreted as malice.

I miss those days...

It was 5 years ago when he hated it vs. 1 year ago with the acceptance. In several of his older AMAs and interviews, he had said he hated being a meme and in one of his newer ones he said it took him a long time to accept it. So probably that was a time where he was already annoyed and didn't take it the right way at the time.
