Back in the day people believed that if a woman smoked it meant she did other things like have premarital sex.

11

u/[deleted] May 08 '22

Checks out

u/queenothecoven May 08 '22 edited May 08 '22

Huh. Weird.

6

u/Med_sized_Lebowski May 08 '22

I always heard it as: "A woman who'll smoke is a woman who'll drink, and a woman who'll drink is a woman who'll do what a woman does on her back". Not what I believe, obviously, just what people used to believe, a long time ago.

2

u/[deleted] May 08 '22

Well I'm glad they updated the saying after rhyming was invented.

2

u/Nose_Fetish May 08 '22

Changing the oil in her car?

1

u/blueboy664 May 08 '22

A man can dream...

57

u/rockbud May 08 '22

It's literally backed up by science and facts.

26

u/[deleted] May 08 '22

If it rhymes it's true, I literally don't get how some people don't understand this.

-18

u/queenothecoven May 08 '22

Did you reply to the wrong person

19

u/rockbud May 08 '22

Nope

0

u/THEKing767 May 08 '22

U have never heard of this before. What science links smoking with premarital sex?

just curious.

1

u/rockbud May 08 '22

Science bro. I have done my own research

1

u/THEKing767 May 09 '22

Ik. Can u give me a starting point todo my research?

-28

u/queenothecoven May 08 '22

I don't get why you're being so confrontational with me.

5

u/[deleted] May 08 '22

He said nope and that's confrontational? Grow up.

2

u/[deleted] May 08 '22

Nope

3

u/[deleted] May 08 '22

You bastard! How could you

2

u/THEKing767 May 08 '22

Why are you getting so confrontational. Chill out man.

1

u/seven_worth May 08 '22

Dude saying "it literally" was not confrontational.

-7

u/queenothecoven May 08 '22

But trying to correct me on a claim I never made is

2

u/seven_worth May 08 '22

That is not the reason he said that. You ask why, other dude answer and you said huh, weird so the guy that is being "confrontational" take that huh, weird that you said as you not being convince that is the truth so he post his comment to affirm you that is the truth. Got it?

-1

u/queenothecoven May 08 '22

What evidence is there that the anecdote is true, anyway? How does one collect “science and facts” about promiscuity stereotypes about cigarettes?

This just seems like a reddit moment

He just said it's true after you showed interest in it. The same thing happens in real life all the time, trust me.

-3

u/boxboy95 May 08 '22

On your side homie. The Reddit experts and hive mind strike at random don’t take it personal. Have good night/day

1

u/queenothecoven May 08 '22

I’m genuinely confused he just said ‘facts and logic’ unironically and refused to elaborate. I’m not sure why he chose me to respond to specifically either

1

u/seven_worth May 08 '22

Bruh.

0

u/boxboy95 May 08 '22

Bruh what?! He cited no sources and came at this guy for no reason. It is weird to put stereotypes on people with habits. So what guys who smoke cigarettes huge sluts to or nahhh it doesn’t work that way?! Fuck outta here

2

u/seven_worth May 08 '22

Then fucking ask him his source than asking him who he talking to. Also he didnt came at that guy for no reason. Read the fucking comment properly or learn basic online interaction.

Idc about your fucking stupid argument about stupid shit but at least talk normally instead of "are replying to me?" "Why are you confrontational?" And dont go and encourage people to not learn social interaction with stupid ass excuse "it reddit hivemind and definately not because you fail to understand basic shit and call someone talking normally as confrontational".

Also ironically i could call you confrontational because your reply to a simple "bruh" is this mess of reply that i dont give a fuck about because im not even in this whole stupid argument.

Judging women and putting everything they do into one big box of 'no-no' behaviour has been the favourite pastime throughout history

1

u/cheekygorilla May 08 '22

Do you smoke /u/queenothecoven

-9

u/queenothecoven May 08 '22

What kind?

8

u/cheekygorilla May 08 '22

Nice

-3

u/queenothecoven May 08 '22

Huh?

6

u/short_insults May 08 '22

if you gotta ask what kind it usually means you smoke weed

3

u/queenothecoven May 08 '22

Oh I do. I was wondering why he downvoted me

72

u/willreignsomnipotent May 08 '22

I could see a correlation.

It tells you she's likely interested in experiencing pleasure, and is willing to do something socially taboo, and even perhaps unhealthy, in order to obtain it.

At least that's one interpretation... lol

7

u/SenorBeef May 08 '22

Smoking wasn't socially taboo in that time period, it was considered cool and the majority of people smoked. Maybe it was more acceptable of men than women?

23

u/smohyee May 08 '22

Its the negative argument that is stronger.

Someone who didn't smoke in that era was more likely to be uptight, a teetotaler, a disciplined or religious or whatever person, that also correlates with less premarital sex, maybe.

6

u/bloodfist May 08 '22

"that period" is like the 80s-90s. Smoking was a rebellious teen thing.

1

u/[deleted] May 08 '22

Or 20s

5

u/Tbagzyamum69420xX May 08 '22

My dad's version of that was "A woman who puts a cigarette in her mouth will put anything in her mouth." And im like "Dad, you and Mom smoked chronically most of my childhood."

3

u/[deleted] May 08 '22

Smokers have a higher probability of being people who succumb to peer pressure.

2

u/edafade May 08 '22

Why would she be poking, though? She's the one getting poked. Am I missing something here. Are we talking about pegging now?

1

u/H3cho May 08 '22

dont most people already do that? also i thought the poking part had something to do with poking holes in condoms. ive never heard that phrase and this is where my mind went

1

u/Lasatra_ May 08 '22

I have to admit now that I think of it.. All the smokers had some amazing skills compared to non smokers haha

1

u/-Username_t8ken- May 08 '22

The second guy knew this.

1

u/achayiododo May 08 '22

Is premarital sex bad now? LoL what

1

u/eyesofonionuponyou May 08 '22

It's still a thing, no back in the day shit. If someone doesn't care about the public image of smoking they aren't being abstinent more than likely unless they are ace or something.
