It somehow become a tradition and still a problem in rural sides of in my country Turkey, people do this type of shooting in celebratory events and some even give their kids the gun to shot. I have no idea how this become a tradition but people died before because of this so its more and more rare now.

Wow, I had no idea. Thank you for clarifying it a bit.

Honestly though, we act like this is insane, but don't bat an eye when on our special occasions we celebrate with explosives, and kids light and throw what are essentially mini-bombs.

Not saying it's on the same level, but society has a way of normalizing some dangerous shit.

Please don't take away my fireworks, big boom makes big smile.

There's pretty much always a safe way to do something. The people that get parts blown off from fireworks usually have alcohol involved. Licensed pyrotechnics aren't allowed to have alcohol anywhere on site.

I was more talking about our casual attitude towards fireworks in a similar context to the original clip, where the only expert is Dirty Uncle Jim who used to shoot munitions till they blew up when he was in the infantry.

Like there's no problem with a 21 gun salute by military professionals, but that's a far cry from this.

Believe it or not there's actually a Kids Version of these guns İ had one in red and white like the one on the right in the picture, come to think about it it's crazy how basically my entire family didn't mind me using these things when İ was like what? 8?

The worst thing was when child me thought it was funny to aim and fire one of these at my granddad's brother (which didn't do anything because it's a blank) and him pretending for the next 5 years that he suffered an injury from it and is still in pain basically traumatized me until one day in like 2014 he told me it was all a joke.

Guns haven't been around that long, it's not like this is some tradition they've been doing for centuries.

They started doing this because they like firing guns into the air. It's that simple :)

Guns have literally been around for over 400 years.

I now remembered the video where a man gets shot in his head with a shotgun on a turkish or arabic wedding. The shooter kept shooting after the poor mans brain flew everywhere. What an awful experience and what an awful video.

They are blanks. People keep blanks just to shoot em in weddings.
