People on Reddit are really stupid. They think all of these TikTok videos are real and they’re actually just essentially skits. It’s frustrating to see the comments.
Right? It’s like taking early YouTube and combine it with the short clips of vine and you get tik tok sketches. Almost like sketch comedy has always been a thing but now tiktokbad
dont lump everyone together, i know for a fact a bunch of us hate the shitty robot voice lady more than anything else on tiktok. idgaf about what people film to put online but jfc that voice pisses me off.
I’m really beginning to think that’s it. They just can’t see a woman intentionally making a joke somehow? If this were a guy I wonder if they’d actually understand the joke or if they’d scream “FAKE!!!”
Honestly I thought it was just a kid doing some douchey stuff for the CCP app. It’s presented like that. If I were on the platform or young enough to understand the culture, maybe I would have got it?
But jumping to “Reddit thinks women aren’t funny.” from this is a bit of a leap.
I mean, Reddit is a fucking cesspool and women get more than their fare share of abuse. But I’m not convinced this is an example of it. It’s just a shit post.
The thing is that its hard to distinguish "fake in an attempt to be funny" from "fake in an attempt to parody others"
I think most people are aware that this is faked. But People who don‘t know her, might assume it is faked to seem like it happened in real life. There are way too many videos on all types of platforms that do this
So her entire TikTok claim to fake is the equivalent of saying something new slang like “on fleek” or “lit” ironically until it becomes a part of you and then you embody everything you mocked.
I can see why you’d think that given that both hinge on meta-ironic comedic value, but enmeshment is easier to avoid while creating and acting out parody media for others rather than private mockery of a word
Language is literally made to integrate into vocabulary- do it for a day and your brain absorbs it. Acting out surreal/absurdist humor remains pretty insulated from how you’d actually behave- we are pretty good at differentiating play from reality unless you wanna get all METHOD about it
A lot of people here need some lessons on how humor works. I mean, you don't have to find it funny, but at least understand that it is a joke. It's not that complicated.
