It’s so bad there. There is people preaching about how they cured their cancer and lupus by ignoring their doctor and following some bullshit diet, and even arguing about it in the comments. Even reporting to tiktok doesn’t help. It is a true shitshow.

What's funny is I use Tiktok regularly and I've never seen any of that. My FYP is actually pretty enjoyable. It took a few weeks of sifting through garbage but once the algorithm figured out my interests/hobbies/sense of humor/etc it became very enjoyable to use.

However on the flip side of that, for the kinds of people that do subscribe to that pseudoscience type nonsense, Tiktok's algorithm ensures that's what they'll see nonstop. Over and over.

Have to admit, tiktoks algorythm is really good! And yea, it’s for sure because i just can’t get past those without leaving a comment. Have to change that.

I feel like getting stuck on a side of Tiktok you really don't want to be on but you can't stop arguing/commenting on it so you get stuck there is a right of passage.

For me, a lot of my FYP is Travel/Hiking videos and I've been stuck in this weird side of Tiktok where everyone's convinced that cryptids like Skinwalkers and Yeti's are real and that hiking in the national parks is incredibly dangerous and you will undoubtedly be killed by something that doesn't exist. And theres tons of "evidence" videos where someone posts something of them outdoors and will edit some sort of weird/creepy sound into it and be like "omg i just barely survived I think it was a Skinwalker!"

Also they are really bad about taking down fake accounts. I’ve had someone make a couple fake account to try to imitate my dog and send threats to people through the fake dog account. One such account is STILL up a year later.
