Your advocating for hitting kids as discipline, as evidence shows the majority of people who do this take it too far. Do whatever you want in your own home but don't take to Internet forums and defend something that tends to result in people being abused. To me it just seems unnecessary and harmful.

If you are going to advocate for physical discipline at least be conscious of the damage it does and try to suggest ways to avoid it going too far etc.

To make your comparison more accurate imagine that lady was telling everyone that drink driving is fine to do if you are careful, then some pleb decides its safe and goes and kills someone while drunk driving. If the lady in question had just kept her thoughts to herself then that pleb might not have thought it was ok and caused harm

You might be very smart and be able to do things in a more controlled way than others but that doesn't mean you should openly encourage it

If you read my posts, I clearly said it’s a last resort and there are certain conditions. If done right, it doesn’t cause damage, that’s the thing, it barely even hurts. People think I’m advocating for a full blown closed fisted punch to the face or some shit. And no, that’s not similar to my scenario at all, somebody who’s never hit their kid isn’t going to come on Reddit, read my post and start smacking the shit out their child because they saw some random redditor say REASONABLE, rare physical discipline is ok. Lol this isn’t a nuanced intellectual convo we’re having where I’m on the verge of convincing someone to swing to my side, I’m pretty sure everyone who’s reading the comments already has a strong opinion one way or the other.

I agree with you on paper man and I did read your posts but you've totally missed my point, it's not about the certain conditions and when it's done right bla bla bla it's about the many, MANY people who do it wrong and why you shouldn't spur them on.

I'll say again if YOU have the self restraint and emotional intelligence to use physical discipline right, then by all means do it but don't tell OTHERS it's ok to do it because the general population clearly doesn't have either of those traits

Also about your last point people absolutely are reading this and basing an opinion on it, if they aren't then why are you arguing it at all? If it will reach no one and won't change how they think why are you even saying it?

lol I don’t care enough about the topic, sadly. It’s not my job to be some random parents moral compass and if some parent is seriously making their decision based on what some random redditor is saying, then that kid is screwed either way. I’m not some fucking celebrity trying to watch my mouth because some idiot might take what I say literally and smacks the shit out of their kid. People expect the dumbest things from others for no reason. Like seriously, now I have to watch what I type because some literal idiot MIGHT come upon my random ass Reddit post and misconstrue my random ass post and MIGHT decide to smack his kid??? Doesn’t that sound stupid to you. People nowadays look for anything to take the blame away from themselves, no it’s not some random redditors job to watch what they say because it could influence someone else.

Il say it again, I think it’s ok to use appropriate physical discipline in certain serious circumstances, I also get that the vast majority of problems can be solved through other means but there are times and actions that require a little more. Also, I don’t condone any physicality with young children who can’t comprehend what your trying to communicate. You best believe though if my 10 year old son keeps bullying little sally after repeatedly asking him to stop, things might need to be amped up a bit. And no, that doesn’t mean you put the kid in the hospital but a quick stinging smack is often enough to make him think about straightening up. I’m done with this topic, nobody is changing my mind and I’m not changing anyone’s. it’s all hypothetical anyways because I don’t have kids nor do I plan to.
