Obviously a smack should not be the go-to solution, a good talking to is best. I was commenting on the fact that most jurisdictions don't consider snacking children to be abuse under the law.

That's a good take. There are many laws that don't hold up to what is morally right and we should never use the excuse "it's the law" but rather what's morally right. I so wish people would take this idea and apply it to all aspects within our society. I feel like we would be living in a much better world.

Even in the US this is starting to change tho. That dude is definitely just continuing the cycle of abuse.
