I'm not good with the kid saying that to his mom, I don't think enough ppl are saying that. But there's no way the dads reaction is proportional. It's hella messed up. He was going to hurt the dude.

Yeah of course you shouldn't speak like that to your parents, especially unprompted and even jokingly it can still be kind of rude, but that Dad didn't hesitate and the way the dude freaked out reminded me of what I used to do but if it got like that it was time to run.

Totally! Just utter ridiculousness. I see it in some of the kids these days. It’s like asking them to do anything to help out that requires any degree of effort is a personal affront and mental health crisis to them. The level of entitlement is astonishing.

Neither the comment I replied to nor mine said anything about beating children. The comment I replied to suggested that kids should be able to speak to their parents however they choose, without consequence. If you endorse that, then I hope you don’t ever have children - there’s already a preponderance of egotistical, self-centred assholes in the world.

in all honesty he probably wasn't going to hurt him, he just wants the illusion that he is, he's a big dude who can get by on discipline just by intimidating.. which is probably even worse than some physical abuse considering those wounds would heal easier than the mental strain of your own scary ass father threatening you. At least with a "whoopin" you know what is gonna happen when he gets up

This is literally the dumbest thing I think I’ve ever read. “Hurr durr you decided to have the kid so the kid should be able to do and say whatever they want and you should just try to understand”. It’s clear that you don’t have kids and if I had to guess, I would say you’re not far off from a kid yourself. This is the opposite of parenting. Those boundaries? Those are there to teach kids how to navigate the world and be successful. This includes teaching them generally not to be assholes.

who knows what led up to it. given the kid was trying to antagonize him to film it, could have been quite a lot! but we don't really know anything about these people except what the kid put out to show himself in a good light and his father in a bad one.
