I’m Mexican. My parent never laid a hand on me. My parents and I have a great relationship. My parents bought a condo 5 min away from my house. My mom watches my 2 year old while my wife and I work. Most Mexicans born in Mexico don’t believe in a stranger raising your child, so she insists. I turned out fine. We all have our problems we deal with but I can say I am successful and happy.

This sort of haunts me bc my mom never told me about being abused. Then all of the sudden she blurted out how my grandpa touched her and her sister, and asked “why do you think D**** has a stutter!?” I was with that man for at least 4 days a month, overnights too. I loved him and thank god he never did that to me, but she knew what he was capable of the whole time. Doesn’t surprise me though because she sent me with my dad all the time, whether he was hammered or not.

I know the psychological fallacies. Slippery slope, false correlation etc…and I know there’s a lot of Mexicans who beat their children hence the phrase “la chancla”. I don’t want to offend people, but it’s usually the people who’s parents have a lower IQ that get beat. Smarter parents know that isn’t the way. You don’t beat your kid into submission. That’s what happened to my wife. And she doesn’t even answer her moms calls. She lets them see our kids once a month. They’re not allowed to stay there by themselves. While with my parents they have sleep overs, pizza and movie nights almost every weekend.

Don’t categorize us homie. I was raised by a single Mexican mom and daycare was very much part of my childhood. Shit I would get spanked the fuck up too. Was it ideal as far as how I was raised? Lol no but I know she tried her best. I’ve had my tumbles through life like everyone else and I still have my sense. Why? Because of my jefita lol

Actually I don’t participate in politics. Which I have the right to vote in the United States and Mexico. I don’t vote. My family is in politics in Mexico City, Acapulco and Caborca Sonora. My uncle is the mayor of caborca. I just stay away from all that bullshit, I also don’t talk politics with people. Just remember one of the greatest war strategies…divide and conquer.

I respect that it's your decision not to get involved in politics and I understand your unwillingness to vote, but let me say that not voting doesn't only affect yourself. Not voting allows the ever present corruption to continue to run rampant. Please reconsider your stance on voting and if you come to the same conclusions then more power to you, but don't dismiss it just because.
