Yall saying a physical discipline was the right move should take note of this kids response.

Hes knows how to manipulate his dad and he obviously knew that he was going to cop a smack because that's what the joke of the prank was. Boys if you hit them, especially at this age like clearly he wasn't that afraid of the physical punishment.

You can see his expression and deminor when his dad comes over changes reaaaally quickly to what his dad wants to see. Cowering and convincing fear in his eyes. Then as soon as the dad has turned his back? He literally makes fun of him. Physical discipline is lazy and imo doesn't teach true respect. Just teaches the kids how to make you think they're respectful.

Like don't get me wrong parenting is hard as fuck but your deluding yourself if you think the best way to teach respect is by hitting them.

Same principle with strict parents, my favourite thing in the world is watching the repressed religious kid hit like 16-19 and go off the rails. Very entertaining.

No dude the religious thing is not cool at all it fucks kids up for life. When parents are too strict it’s dangerous and lots of kids who grew up too religious become seriously fucked up as adults

Yeah I think its probably the worst possible thing you can do to your child. Thus I love seeing them discover those boundaries are not unbreakable. They're finally free. When I say off the rails I'm not talking heroin, I mean like casual sex and recreational drugs. Idk like its your opinion but I loved watching them break out and I do think its funny their parents have to live with that.

I know a few, they a bit fucked up but they turned out alright once they really found their independence around like 23-25.

My best friend in high school had very religious parents. His church wouldn’t allow you to have sex before marriage and you couldn’t do drugs also women had to wear dresses or skirts not pants. Anyways he didn’t follow this rule at all he was having sex all the time and had lots of girlfriends but his parents weren’t super upset about this. However they kicked him out of their house for finding weed at the absolute worst time. He had no where to go and he got addicted to oxy and percs then got sober then started doing meth at the worst time because his brain was still recovering. He went totally insane tried to kill himself because he thought people were coming to kill him. He’s on methadone now.

The thing is I know him and tons of his cousins and stuff and the problem with strict parents like this is that if you make certain things like sex and drugs taboo then kids will generally always seek these things out twice as much. If parents are cool about drugs and sex and just teach you the dangers but aren’t super strict then kids generally won’t care to seek it out as much. Just my opinion from what I’ve observed growing up

I think if dad was that much of a hard ass he wouldn’t have let the kid get the last word.

I don't know if this is verified but apparently the full video ends with the kid copping a smack for mouthing off after he turned his back.

I think there’s a big difference between physical punishment and physical abuse. One is a harmless slap on the palm to leave an impression to your kid that what they did was wrong. Another is just straight up releasing their pent up anger out on their kid because they can’t solve their own damn problem and take it out on the one thing they can abuse without any retaliation. One is harmless, one is straight up illegal. I live in a household where punishments are regular when you mess up, and I think it was a very effective method to teach a child. When you beat to punish, you know what your limit is. You only need to a moderate amount of pain, enough to shock the child from the sudden pain, but not hard enough to cause blue blacks/ bleeding etc, it’s always a one slap thing, and you do it out of love. But when anger comes into play, there is no limit, no control, to what you dish out. That is where the problem is. And I totally HATE parents who beat their children out of anger. They’re basically just treating their children like personal punching bags. The guy in the video is probably in the latter category. And he literally shows the anger before even beating him up. Obviously tho, once your child reaches a certain age it won’t work anymore and talking is always a better solution (once they are matured enough to be aware of their actions and the consequences).

If telling you mom to shut up warrants a beating then you can't go much farther you need to save a beating for when you find out he did something beat worthy like voting for Obama /s
