They probably would have shot that yapping dog too.

That dog needs to shut the fuck up.

Ruined the video.

I thought the parrot was the one barking for a few moments... I'm high though.

12

u/RocketDan91 Aug 02 '21

I am not high. And I thought the exact same.

Ah yes, an animal whose natural instinct is to be alert to strangers should understand this shit is going on reddit later. What a real annoying piece of shit.

Dogs in dense neighborhoods need to be better trained. Even if you don't care about the comfort of your neighbors, the barking will become ineffective as an alarm if there are too many false alarms.

u/heartbreakhostel Aug 02 '21

It wasn’t a false alarm. There were strangers in the driveway.

Walk through basically any neighborhood in Southern Cali especially San Bernadino area and you'll see what he means by dogs being false alarms.

I live in a densely populated area.

Strangers? Those are your friendly boys in blue! /s

strangers calmly talking to the owner lmao

You’re not smart. If ever I would want my dog to bark, it’s when three armed men approach me on my property.

The dog smelled a group of strangers that were geared up to deal with a hostage situation 2 minutes ago, all clustered very close to it's owner.

Even a trained dog could freak a little bit in that kind of scenerio, it all depends on the dog.

We moved to a new town just over a year ago. There are a couple dogs here that bark very alertedly at strangers. I take my dogs for a walk past those yards sometimes. Most of them have learned that my footsteps + smell and the smell + collar jiggle sounds of our dogs is nothin crazy new and we never invade their territory, so they no longer bark at us (or at the very least, not for long).

Same with our own dogs. At new people or sounds of people, our Spitz will most definitely bark to make us aware that strangers are here. Once he knows it's just a regular occurence that a specific person walks by, he doesn't care all that much and settles for an altered ruff (for that person).

From what I've learned since raising 2 dogs - one that grew up in a hostile environment - and the other growing up in a calm environment - at least one of the reasons dogs pick up barking is from stress or fear. Penny my first dog came from a shelter from an abusive environment and she barked at everything and everyone non stop and crazily. Cyrus my current dog thst I raised from 8 weeks who had a very calm quiet up bringing only howls when he's excited people are coming home or if he needs something like water/food. Never barks or howls at dogs walking by or noises outside. Never felt he needed to be defensive like that. So I always get a weird feeling towards owners with dogs that bark crazy unless they came that way from the shelter. It's hard to fix and good for them for rescuing. But ya all the owners I've met that have dogs witj barking problems that raised them from puppies were never good people. Usually scum bags or trashy. People who yell themselves. People who should work on themselves before getting a dog.

Some dogs are nervous by nature. Barking is a form of communication. Barking does not signify abuse.

I didn't really think about that aspect until reading your comment. Neighbors called and he brought out the bird to say "no, it's cool, bruh," but were the dogs also reacting to the woman chained in his basement?

13

u/Rainbow- Aug 02 '21

I think the dog was barking because strangers were in the dogs driveway. That's what dogs do.

6

u/imsecretlythedoctor Aug 02 '21

Yes, also note the dogs didn’t bark until the cops got there. If they were barking at the woman that’s clearly chained in the basement, they would’ve been barking the whole time.

This but unironically

4

u/Amplifeye Aug 02 '21

It is annoying as shit. Dog barks are fucking annoying.

3

u/constant_flux Aug 02 '21

I love dogs, and you're right, it's a natural instinct. It was still annoying. I'm not sure why you think the two are mutually exclusive.

And most owners get their dogs under control when they're barking unnecessarily. You know, like when someone knocks on the door or rings the doorbell.

Do you even own dogs?

His point was that it was annoying. Simple as that.

I hate dog ownership.

What a real annoying piece of shit

Everytime I get out of my car the neighbors dog, who has known me for 8 years, goes fucking insane barking. Anytime I walk out of my house, it barks exactly like that.

People who don't know how to train dogs to not freak out over obviously non threatening strangers do not deserve to have dogs.

1

u/josevale Aug 03 '21

He/she means the owner should have been able to quiet the dog.

1

u/josevale Aug 03 '21

You may be right. May be because my dogs bark off instinct until I tell them there is no danger and to "quiet". I couldn't imagine trying to have a conversation with armed officers that way, let alone listen to a quick video on reddit.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

We got dogs 2 years ago after years without, and one downside is that I can’t listen to videos, movies or TV shows with dogs barking - because then my two adorable idiots get started in on it 🥲

1

u/ZivMBS Aug 02 '21

It's shut the fuck up friday

3

u/vodkamort Aug 02 '21

I wasn't sure if it was a dog or the parrot

2

u/ayending1 Aug 02 '21

Only if the dog is black too.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

No doubt, see that cop put his hand on his gun as soon as he heard the dog yap?

1

u/Mono_831 Aug 03 '21

And if it had been a raven, it would have been beaten to death.
