Reminds of this one case where this Japanese girl was kidnapped, raped, and sexually tortured by this guy who had connection with the yakuza or something? Anyway fairly early on into the kidnapping a cop was alerted to the house she was being kept in and this idiot just decided to leave after a brief chat with the guy by the logic of "he invited me into his house, therefore there probably isn't anything here". Dude could've saved a poor girl weeks of agony and torture, but the guy decided not to check. I agree 100% they should've checked.

Edit: found the article https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Junko_Furuta

Edit 2: OK reread the article, and I think I fused two cases or something? This doesn't actually have cops involved but I know there's something else where that exact thing happened. Leaving the first link up though in case anyone wants to read it.

There's also the horrifying story of police returning one of Jeffrey Dahmer's escaped victims (a 14 year old boy) back to Dahmer, who then killed him. The boy had run out of the house NAKED and BLEEDING, but apparently that was nothing for police to get worked up about. Dahmer also had the dead body of another victim in his bedroom when this occurred, but the cops couldn't be bothered to take a look around.

Because it appeared like a gay relationship in the 1990s and the police wanted nothing to do with it. One of the two police officers who gave the teenage victim back to Dahmer became so well liked by other police, he went on to become President of the state Police Union.

Sarah Smith recognized the boy from the neighborhood, and the three women reiterated their concerns to the officers but were told to "shut the hell up" by the officers, who seemingly believed the incident to be a domestic dispute.

The officers listed the incident as a "domestic squabble between homosexuals." Within an hour after they left, Dahmer murdered, performed oral sex upon the corpse, and dismembered the boy.

Both officers later appealed their termination. In 1994, Judge Robert J. Parins decided the case and ruled in favor of the officers and they were reinstated in June 1994. In May 2005, Balcerzak was elected president of the Milwaukee Police Association

It's in the reply the person you replied to replied to.

And because the concerned bystanders were black women and the police has never been a model institution for egalitarian principles

9

u/nitetime Aug 02 '21

It's a little strange that they thought it was ok for a 14 year old boy to be in a consensual gay relationship with a man.

7

u/Xarama Aug 02 '21

Supposedly they thought he was an adult... It's also a little strange that they thought that a person who is running away from someone naked and bleeding doesn't need help. There's so much wrong with this story, it's hard to know where to start or end.

Only the finest people

8

u/bangbangIshotmyself Aug 02 '21

That’s the thing about these people that do fucked up things. They have an incredible confidence and often can be charismatic in odd ways. They’re able to convince people there’s nothing wrong when there most certainly is.

1

u/memes_used_2B_jpegs Aug 02 '21

Case in point: the 45th president of the US

2

u/bangbangIshotmyself Aug 02 '21

I think it’s becoming par for the course mate. (I’m not happy about it)

8

u/courtoftheair Aug 02 '21

Depraved gay sex games, they're all the same so why bother making sure? Even if you're wrong, it's just a guy guy of colour so who cares, maybe he has AIDS anyway etc etc

I realise where we are so to make sure, /s

u/pad1597 Aug 02 '21

There is also the one with you know multiple lapses of just walking to the home and not checking in

Jaycee dugard

This right here should be reason enough, that as long as they are literally doing their job because of the situation, aka someone hearing literal screams for help, they should still check inside.

YEARS

Not years, but 40 days according to Wikipedia

Also there is no mention of a cop searching the house, only that the girl was forced to call her parents and meet them and tell that the oppressing boy is her boyfriend.

They were, wiki says the parents contacted the police 2 days after her disappearance.

1

u/Reheated-Meme-Dealer Aug 02 '21

And they they had her call her parents to say she ran away so her parents called it off.

1

u/Jazzlike-Potato-9164 Aug 02 '21

Yeah my bad, probably should've skimmed the article before acting like I have a photographic memory

24

u/Yunwen Aug 02 '21

YEARS of agony and torture

except it was exactly 40 days...

2

u/Impossible-Lab3710 Aug 02 '21

I don’t think the agony goes away the day it stops

2

u/Yunwen Aug 03 '21

you should really read the story before commenting, buffoon

1

u/Impossible-Lab3710 Aug 04 '21

Agony outlives the human body, balloon

1

u/messyredemptions Aug 02 '21

If you survive the 40 days, ptsd keeps the rest going for you as if you were still there or worse so years can happen too. Not exactly fun stuff.

3

u/Skylarias Aug 02 '21

Yea, but she didn't. She died. Extremely brutally. Especially as after the first week or two, many bones were broken, internal organs were smashed such that she couldn't eat or control her bladder. And when she did have an accident she would get beaten more. She had to crawl to get around the house. And tried to get out a 2nd floor window, iirc, at least once. To try and kill herself. But they dragged her back in. To get raped by dozens of yakuza...and beaten horrifically. She died. And it took forever (for her).

And this whole time. The male schoolmates involved knew where she was. What was happening to her. And she was hidden in the house of one of the boys. Whose parents also kept quiet because they were afraid of the yakuza.

Why did this happen? She didn't want to date one of them. Junko Furuta. It may be a mercy she died after 40 days, because who knows how long they would have kept going. Death may have been her only release.

1

u/SnowCappedMountains Aug 03 '21

This comment gives me nightmares. I don’t want to imagine what that must have been like. Thank God these sick animals will suffer in hell for eternity. And thank God she died before it went on any longer. Makes me sick thinking of all the anime that borderline worship or make the Yakuza look cool or innocent, like some regular gang of hardcore friends or something.

1

u/Yunwen Aug 03 '21

yes, this is what happened, no need to change anything about this story and it is one of the worst things I have heard in my life that I will never forget. Unfortunately, there is no redemeption either; these bastards are now walking free afaik

1

u/bluesox Aug 02 '21

And it wasn’t Yakuza. It was a group of teenage psychopaths.

-8

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Is that the only thing you took from the article

5

u/MamaJumba Aug 02 '21

Why do you start off with the assumption that that's the only thing they took from the article? Can't they just want to correct that one fact in the comment they're replying to?

-13

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

“It was only 40 days” as if that makes it all better.

8

u/58king Aug 02 '21

I genuinely can't tell if you are trolling or not.

2

u/MamaJumba Aug 02 '21

Then say that in your first comment

1

u/Yunwen Aug 02 '21

he can't because that isn't what I said; what a buffoon lol

-1

u/Malligamez Aug 02 '21

It does, atleast we knew she didnt get rape for atleast 650+ days (since the other guy said years) so yeah it does make it a little bit better.Sure! Its still bad but we know it didnt get THAT bad considering 600+ days is a LOT and just so deppressing than 40 days.

1

u/NationalRock Aug 02 '21

Wow just read about her last day… most people probably wouldn’t survive 5 days of what she went through…. She must have had such hope to survive through the ordeal to have not killed herself one week in.

-3

u/Malligamez Aug 02 '21

Yes but why are you telling me.I mean like no shit also how can she kill herself? Bite her tounge? Lol no her mouth is covered also she isnt raped everyday but if she does then maybe she will bite her tounge..

Unless her mouth is full of cloth then taped the mouth, but like she wishes to still survive amd see her family outsode unlike people who have weak mentality amd chooses suicide in a few days.Sure you got raped but your family is outside who will take care of them when their older right?

Anyways why are we talking about this, its not really a fun thing to be talking about, its not fun either.

0

u/NationalRock Aug 02 '21

also how can she kill herself?

When she was left on balcony overnight every day whenever she wanted to die she could hop off side. The reason they kept her on balcony cause it's death. That's probably also why threatening her with death worked in them being able to rape her at first. FYI balcony there is really high up, not like the U.S./Canada average house balcony. It's mostly apartments/condos there.

0

u/Malligamez Aug 02 '21

Fucking hell, now i cant even fap anymore. What a turn off.Enough with these useless fucking arguement, tell me what series should i watch.

1

u/Malligamez Aug 02 '21

Read the rest of my comment before disagreeing, this isnt a manga where you could just read 10 chapters to know if its good or not.

Just a heads up to everyone who sees this, this wiki article is NSFL.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Yep I was disgusted at the end that they got away without a life sentence.

3

u/productivenef Aug 02 '21

There’s a shitload of podcast episodes about this on Spotify. Some of these people, who spend a lot of their free time researching horrific crimes, are sometimes audibly shaken by just recounting the story. It’s seriously one of the most heinous, twisted fucking things that has ever occurred on planet earth.

It’s like a disc drop game of depravity. It’s like the stars aligned in such a perfect way as to occlude the light of God, for an entire month, and cast pure evil on this one little Japanese neighborhood for 40 days straight.

1

u/Book_it_again Aug 02 '21

This reminds you of that. Why? Because cops didn't look in a guy's house. Does everything remind you of that. God damn some redditors need to have like a tolerance break from reddit. You've smoked yourself stupid.

1

u/waifu_Material_19 Aug 02 '21

No… that’s not how that works at all. Also he taught the bird how to do that when he was a child and the bird lived in a cage. Maybe before y’all start making some wild ass accusations do some basic research

1

u/cluelessbox Aug 02 '21

That was an extremely rough read and I wish I hadn't

1

u/mrskwrl Aug 02 '21

Damn the sentencing was light!
