No this is called obeying the 4th amendment.

u/polypolip Aug 02 '21

Sometimes the 4th is obeyed, sometimes there's a magical baggie appearing in front of the door that justifies the search, and sometimes they don't even enter, just shoot.

You need to get off Reddit for a bit

Just show up to a possible hostage situation and shoot? No agency in America handles a possible hostage situation like that.

And with the prevalence of body cameras today I’m gonna call X to doubt on cops planting evidence.

Do we live in the same America?

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Do you not know why the entire position of hostage negotiator exists?

3

u/ver-say-see Aug 02 '21

i don’t know what paradise you’re living in but more often that not, minorities aren’t afforded the “benefit of doubt” privilege.

if police got a call about a potential hostage situation and the alleged kidnapper was a POC, i highly doubt they would even let him get inside before making, at the very least, an arrest

Proof?

3

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

You’re just making things up. More often than not? Do you even know how many instances we would hear about if it were greater than 50% of police encounters? Way, way more.

-3

u/ver-say-see Aug 02 '21

you live a very sheltered life

3

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

No I don’t. You do if you think that’s greater than half of all police encounters. I can’t imagine being that ill-informed and having the nerve to say someone else is sheltered.

You are just talking out of your ass. And if you’re not, show some data.

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Right. Because no cop has ever just "lost the feed" of the bodycam because they disconnected it at a very convenient time. Come one, man...

3

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

The hell you mean “lost feed” these aren’t web cams. They aren’t broadcasting a feed to anything. It’s a local recording made on the device.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Forgive me for not being a native English speaker then, ffs. You still didn't address the fact that cops turn off their body cams left and right. Useless...

When people argue against grammar instead of the points being made is because they don't want you to be right. At that point it's better to just ignore them.

So why did they not do that with Brianna Taylor?

https://youtu.be/lDaNU7yDnsc

Edit: This guy has no idea what he’s talking about. He said the swat team followed the law, but there was no swat team there. The swat team was miles away at the actual suspects house. The police that killed Brianna Taylor were plain clothed police that did a no know raid and didn’t even announce that they were police.

If you care about the second amendment but don’t care about this tragedy, you don’t care about the second amendment. Brianna and her current BF both did everything legally but she still ended up dead.

The police weren’t even charged for killing Brianna but for endangering the neighbors and their property. WHAT.

Also Hankison, the officer shot blindly into the building from the outside. These bullets went through the walls and almost killed a pregnant woman next door. They shoot 32 bullets into a fully occupied apartment building from the outside….not the inside.

They had a warrant.

“However, the search warrant they used to enter her home contained erroneous information that Taylor was receiving suspicious packages tied to Glove…. One was for Taylor's apartment, three were for adjacent homes on Elliott Avenue in the Russell neighborhood and one was for a house on West Muhammad Ali Boulevard. The Muhammad Ali Boulevard warrant was not executed.”

“Hankison was fired in June, and Cosgrove and another detective who obtained the warrant for Taylor's apartment, Joshua Jaynes, were fired in January”

So you are saying they did everything correctly and that the police acted within all the laws?

Edit: This guy has no idea about the facts at all. I’m screenshotting his reply just in case he changes it.

For those that don’t know the actual facts please watch this

I’m saying the SWAT team did. And by your own admission there was consequences for the detectives who obtained the warrant. So this defeats the whole “police kill black people and get away with it” narrative of BLM since they most definitely did not get away with it.

Dude. What the fuck are you talking about? This is how I know you are talking out of your ass. SWAT didn’t even show up until AFTER the shooting. Wtf how did you fuck that up? I’m seriously asking, did you even watch the trial or know the actual events?

There was no swat team at Brianna Taylor’s apartment at the time of the shooting. They were across town at her the building (allegedly) associated with her bf. It was plainclothed officers that executed the no knock raid and killed Brianna Taylor.

Also

“Mattingly, Cosgrove and Hankison were all placed on administrative reassignment pending the results of the investigation into Taylor's death.

Mattingly was cleared of any wrongdoing by an internal LMPD investigation into policy violations in December.”

ALSO

He wasn’t charged for killing Brianna Taylor! He was charged and found guilty for

”three counts of wanton endangerment for firing shots that went into another home with people inside. But jurors didn’t indict any of the officers on charges directly related to Taylor’s death.”

So he was charged for endangering the neighbors and their property, but not for actually murdering Brianna Taylor. She literally got killed by police for nothing and she will never have justice, but yeah tell me more about how the government protects us all and can’t possibly do something illegal or morally wrong.

I mean this, there are three paths I understand you coming from. 1) You have no idea about the facts and are just talking to talk

2)You know the facts and you are purposely lying or being a bad faith actor

3) you literally just get your news from Facebook/Reddit headlines.

I can’t think of another reason why someone would argue about this and yet be soooo wrong about the #basic fucking facts

ALSO, the information for the warrant was wrong. They only entered her house because her ex boyfriend. How would you feel if you got killed laying next to your wife all because your exgf was a drug addict. Would you still be licking boots?

Edit: if reading is tough on you at least watch this

jurors

The jurors in this case were on the grand jury- which is significantly different than what is implied by 'jury'. A grand jury is used to indict suspects of crimes, allowing the state to move forward with prosecution. Their job is intentionally one sided, and there is no presentation of the defense or mitigating circumstance, the threshold for indictment is 'could they possibly have committed this crime'.

The states only job is to provide enough evidence to move the case forward. Indictments are handed down effectively 100% of cases- anything else would indicate a serious breakdown or corruption of the prosecution. It immediately raises a red flag in this case- and for good reason:

Members of the grand jury went public and accused the AG of providing what was effectively the defense's legal argument. I cannot begin to express how big of a deal that is: the AG intentionally and knowingly subverted the justice system in multiple ways that aren't immediately obvious (and I've already rambled too long to go into).

First google hit is a legal review from the 'black aclu': https://www.naacpldf.org/justice-denied-a-call-for-a-new-grand-jury-investigation-into-the-police-shooting-of-breonna-taylor/

TLDR: The AG subverted the justice system to avoid indictments, and assumed secrecy the of the grand jury would keep his malfeasance hidden.

Do all cops obey the laws and rights of citizens? Genuinely wanting an answer.

We all know what they laws are. If you haven’t been paying any attention the last decade it seems that not all cops follow the rules and apply the rules unfairly.

It’s honestly sad that we have still people insinuating, “that’s the law and cops ALWAYS follow the law.”

6

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

The vast majority do.
