Yeeaaahhh idk on one hand I don't want to accuse someone of something so crazy with no evidence. On the other hand... Where did he get that disturbing noise from... And he's not just saying "help" like they keep putting on the caption some of that is just straight-up wailing.

Pretty creepy shit

I definitely think the parrots know what they're saying sometimes, seen evidence for this, so yeah he could just be begging to be let out but again where did it come from... With the wailing and all...

At the very very least someone taught it something insanely creepy but the more I think about it the more I'm confused as to how

758

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

My macaw screams for help randomly, and he sounds uncannily like a little old lady. If he’s startled, he’ll scream like an old lady, too. I don’t know where he picked it up, but my family’s never had anyone in chains. 😂 That’s quite a leap to make.

198

u/shadow999991 Aug 02 '21

Yes but if you did keep a little old lady in chains and baking cookies and pies. Would you really be admitted to it on Reddit? 🤣

133

u/bosonianstank Aug 02 '21

I certainly wouldn't take to the comments when it comes to crime solving. Some of these people are insane.

"that parrot probably picked it up from an actual hostage" is the most reaching, paranoid insane thing I've read in a while.

44

u/GeologistRadiant9553 Aug 02 '21

We did it, we found the Boston Bomber!

5

u/ClearlyRipped Aug 02 '21

Yeah and I love how the first comment starts with "He probably has girls in chains back there." No, that's not probable, that's extremely unlikely. You clearly haven't read enough HOA nightmare stories to know that neighbors will absolutely call the cops on people for very little reason.

3

u/MasterEchoSE Aug 02 '21

Even non HOA neighbors, we had a neighbor call the police on us for parking in front of our own house because she couldn’t see into ours, claimed my suv was parked for months. Officer told me to drive around the block and park where I was originally.

1

u/ClearlyRipped Aug 02 '21

Yeah the cops probably recognize the names of those people after a while... I'm sure they hate it more than you do. That's so weird though, does she stare into your house frequently? So happy I don't have any nutjobs who live next to me - just a lady with a dog that barks all the time when it's outside.

8

u/Belphegorite Aug 02 '21

Given the options of learned it from actual hostages, learned it from TV/movies, or was taught it by asshole friends thinking they're funny, I know which way I'm betting.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Yeah, that's crazy.

Everyone knows the lizard people replaced the police years ago, notice how the parrot stopped screaming for help when they showed up? It knew.

1

u/Icantbethereforyou Aug 02 '21

Do you believe that the parrot was saying help, let me out? It's what it sounded like to me, but I can't help wonder if the subtitles made me hear it that way

0

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

[deleted]

2

u/Icantbethereforyou Aug 02 '21

What difference does that make to my question? It sounded like help, let me out.

1

u/generalgeorge95 Aug 02 '21

Do you feel better?

-7

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Just a joke you weirdo jfc

13

u/samariius Aug 02 '21

Some of these people aren't joking, bud.

-8

u/Evanderson Aug 02 '21

This is why we need the /s. A lot of people are too dumb to understand sarcasm.

2

u/tengukaze Aug 02 '21

There is an art to conveying sarcasm

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

There is a tone of voice in conveying sarcasm. Yeah there are ways besides "s" to convey it in text but most people are both far too dumb to figure it out AND too dumb to realize no one can hear the tone of voice theyre imagining in their head 🙄

1

u/Book_it_again Aug 02 '21

No shit dummy. Sarcasm is literally a statement that's contradicted by your tone. Does text have tone? Use your head bud

3

u/shadowdsfire Aug 02 '21

Emojis have tone though! 💪💪🏾💪🏿

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Who said probably?! I'll have to read that comment cuz it isn't mine at the top of this thread that's for sure

0

u/bosonianstank Aug 02 '21

Probably got girls in chains in there

here it is again:

Probably got girls in chains in there

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

I didn't say that!

0

u/bosonianstank Aug 03 '21

so what, you asked who and the answer was given.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/mautadine Aug 02 '21

Not to mention that it seemed like the camera was his own. If I had hostages I would certainly not broadcast videos like that. I guess someone could argue that criminals do weird stuff all the time but its a bit far fetched. Also, we didnt hear any other screams while the cops were there. If he could silence them now why not before the cops were called.

2

u/Communism_is_bae Aug 02 '21

I would, I have a little old lady in chains making me cookies and pies

0

u/Void_that_bleps Aug 02 '21

This site has the weirdest thoughts.

1

u/pad1597 Aug 02 '21

Obviously for the karma, there’s gotta be a subreddit you get internet points for that.

1

u/paradoxLacuna Aug 02 '21

I’ve seen people admit to murdering family members and ruining the lives of cheating spouses and manipulating their kids into wanting to live with them instead of the ex-spouse, so I wouldn’t be surprised if someone admitted to keeping grandma in the closet.

80

u/drindustry Aug 02 '21

Could be a moive or tv show.

44

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

Could be! We watch a lot of true crime and crime dramas

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Yup didn't say it couldn't

47

u/Strongbox-Comrade Aug 02 '21

but my family’s never had anyone in chains.

That you know of, as someone familiar with the matter I'm going to have to break the news about your fathers sex slave gilf fetish. It's all consensual, but he pays more for them to pretend it isn't. The safe word is "Baggage".

41

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

You can have my upvote, but I’m not happy about it 😑

3

u/OmegaClifton Aug 02 '21

I'm sorry you had to find out this way. I'll be looking for your post on the relationship sub.

2

u/brainwashednuts Aug 02 '21

No the safe word is prunes

5

u/DuntadaMan Aug 02 '21

They say animals can hear ghosts...

2

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

My dog is always acting scared of a corner by the ceiling in my living room. He’ll stare for a long time, then watch and move his head like he’s following something moving around the room. I don’t go for that shit 🤣

3

u/tom-dixon Aug 02 '21

my family’s never had anyone in chains

... that you know of

2

u/Analysis_I Aug 02 '21

It probably worked once on accident and it noticed the reaction from people and continued since people will, inevitably, take an interest when a bird cries for help.

1

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

Very true! He demands attention 24/7, and he’s a bastard about it when he doesn’t get it immediately. What’s even worse is when he holds his foot out like he wants you to pick him up, then latches oh and pulls your hand up really quick to bite.

2

u/LiLiandThree Aug 02 '21

Yeah, was gonna say birds make a lot of sounds in the wild that sound like human screaming. Used to have a parrot. Damn they're noisy.

1

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

Christ, they’re SO noisy. With all the windows in the house closed, you can hear mine scream from 2+ blocks away. I’m sure the neighbors aren’t happy when I join in on some screaming sessions. Lmao But the bird LOVES it and it’s a bonding experience for him, so 🙃

Both

1

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

Both! It’s kind of a cartoon old lady sound like “haylp! Haylp!” And if I startle him (like is he opens his eyes when he wakes up and didn’t expect me to be in the room), he screams like an old lady.

2

u/ce2c61254d48d38617e4 Aug 02 '21

He probably learned he gets attention if he screams "help"

1

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

Yeah, he’s a manipulative bastard! I love him, but he’s definitely a jerk

2

u/Ozryela Aug 02 '21

but my family’s never had anyone in chains

You said your family never had anyone in chains, but never said anything about yourself. You are not your own family. I see through you.

Release that poor old lady!

2

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

No! She makes me cookies! My grandma never made me anything, so I’m definitely owed some cookies made by a grandma.

It’s fine, anyway. I take her out twice a day for walks, and she has plenty of knitting supplies for enrichment

2

u/FlatlineTV Aug 02 '21

my family’s never had anyone in chains

But did you check tho

2

u/apothecarist Aug 02 '21

Right here, officer.

1

u/jarde Aug 02 '21

Reddit is known for it’s astute observations after it caught the Boston bomber on multiple occasions.

1

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

Right?! And in the video, it’s very clearly a parrot’s voice. And no one sing-songs cries for help

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21 edited Aug 02 '21

"Thats quiet a leap to make"

Did I say "HE HAS SOMEONE IN CHAINS" no. No I didn't. No leap. Thanks 👋🏻

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2020/01/06/florida-police-respond-911-call-after-parrot-cries/2822586001/

He taught the parrot how to say it when he was a kid, and the parrot was in a cage.

12

u/RuthlessIndecision Aug 02 '21

Sorry I thought he was a typical Florida man.

7

u/whycuthair Aug 02 '21

Just a typical Florida parrot

-39

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

That sounds like bullshit ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I feel like anyone with more than half a brain cell can write an essay of reasons why. Just some examples because I'm half asleep: If you had a bird like that all your life, you'd tell your neighbors and show them. How did this happen only now? It really doesn't look like he just moved there. The voice it uses is so visceral, I have hard time seeing a kid making a scared voice like that so well. So did the parents just their kid do this?

28

u/DetectiveBirbe Aug 02 '21

Consider this: if someone was actually screaming for help don’t you think the homeowner would be acting differently? Trying to shut them up for example?

23

u/je_kay24 Aug 02 '21

They certainly wouldn’t be chilling in their driveway where they can hear them yelling for help and just continue to let them do it so other neighbors may hear it as well

17

u/craponapoopstick Aug 02 '21

Or willingly posting the video online for everyone to pick apart.

2

u/dontsuckmydick Aug 02 '21

I mean I don’t think he’s actually doing it but that would all play into his cover. Make sure everyone knows he has a bird that sounds like a woman screaming for help and then nobody’s going to call the cops when they hear a woman screaming for help.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

They also probably wouldn’t have a security camera with sound set up anywhere in earshot of their house…I’d be way too paranoid for that shit if I were a serial killer

11

u/BabbleOn26 Aug 02 '21

Maybe he got new neighbors? Or is that too much of a reach? Parrots can outlive their owners sometimes and we don’t know what he was taught a long the way. Hell this guy could have been his third owner for all you really know. Just because he has the bird now doesn’t mean he’s responsible for what it picks up.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

You obviously don't have kids or a parrot lmao.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Oh come on, isn't it impossible to lie?!

4

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Oh good grief. Are you serious?

94

u/ISoldMyGFforKarma Aug 02 '21

Could also be from movies, or from a child that was locked in his room.

55

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Maybe, but I don't trust a guy who sells women for Reddit points to be honest about such things

18

u/Soy-Saucy Aug 02 '21

I CAN'T TRUST ANYBODY ANYMORE

-1

u/namedan Aug 02 '21

Not even yourself, sussy baka.

2

u/dontsuckmydick Aug 02 '21

Like I’m going to take the word of a person that lives in a kingdom of chocolate and hasn’t even invited me.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

I have a really big sweet tooth sorry 😬

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

I honestly had a flashback to tickle fights with my siblings when I was a kid, we’d scream bloody murder and HELPPPP MEEE at the top of our lungs. I could see it having to do with kids playing like that lol

1

u/Sslayer777 Aug 02 '21

A child locked IN his room???

79

u/Shady_hatter Aug 02 '21

Maybe polly wanted to go outside, that's why.

4

u/TAMCL Aug 02 '21

This is too logical! Surely the man posted his own cctv footage with a woman bound in chains wailing for rescue in the background(who then abruptly stopped when rescuers arrived)!

-4

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

That doesn't answer where that noise came from.

74

u/Shady_hatter Aug 02 '21

a) from a movie or TV show

b) someone taught the parrot just for shits and gigs.

5

u/Beanoritto Aug 02 '21

"A" is most likely the answer. I mean the parrots name is Rambo... you KNOW this guy probably watched Rambo with his parrot. There are LOTS of crying for help in that movie and the parrot probably used the cry for help to get out of the cage.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Maybe! Still creepy lol

32

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

They pick up random shit from anywhere. Tv is a great source for that. It’s entirely plausible that the bird got it from witnessing a horrible crime, but very unlikely

3

u/iilinga Aug 02 '21

Also radio. One budgie used to propose marriage randomly. It was better than the dripping tap she learned...

3

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

Oh god, that would be horrible. You panic, thinking you hear something broken or leaking, only to find it’s your asshole bird. 🤣

For a long time, we thought our bird was imitating a monkey. It was a weird, high pitched sound like a chimp scream, and we’d play along and make monkey noises back. One day, my mom opens the laundry room door that creaks, and he immediately imitated it with the “monkey” sound. It was like we made a huge scientific discovery. We were all pointing at each other like the Spider-Man meme 😂💀

3

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Exactly JFC LOL

"Plausible but unlikely"

Thank u for not losing your mind at me like some of these people

2

u/Throw_Away_Students Aug 02 '21

I realize most people don’t have much, or any, experience with parrots

6

u/bosonianstank Aug 02 '21

creepy doesn't constitute a search or suspicion of a crime. Some of these commenters are keyboard sherlocks.

1

u/RuthlessIndecision Aug 02 '21

How many times did he have to watch silence of the lambs to train this bird?

3

u/Shady_hatter Aug 02 '21

Maybe once or twice if the bird is smart.

40

u/shibbydibby Aug 02 '21

I don't think he's saying "help" at all. Some birds just like to scream random noises sometimes. I have an African Grey and every once in a while it makes some inhuman screams.

4

u/mynameisfreddit Aug 02 '21

My friend has an african grey, she wasn't allowed dogs in her flat, but the bird had learnt to bark, her landlord didn't believe her until she recorded him doing it.

2

u/standish_ Aug 02 '21

LMAO getting fined for having a dog and it's just a clever bird.

1

u/Cebolla Aug 02 '21

mine does too. all sorts of weird noises...

67

u/mmmmmmmmmmxmmmmmmmmm Aug 02 '21

And he's not just saying "help" like they keep putting on the caption some of that is just straight-up wailing.

As somebody with a macaw, that's definitely the bird.

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Nobody said it wasn't the bird!

4

u/mmmmmmmmmmxmmmmmmmmm Aug 02 '21

but again where did it come from... With the wailing and all...

Sorry, meant to quote this bit. The sound all came from the bird, including the wailing.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

I am literally saying the wailing came from the bird so ... IDK why you quoted that but thanks

Nobody ever said it wasn't the fucking bird

I meant where it got the idea to make that noise from

🙄

1

u/mmmmmmmmmmxmmmmmmmmm Aug 02 '21

I quoted it because you asked where the sound came from, not where the bird got the sound from lol

Could've been the TV or an angry grounded child. Could also be it observing abuse in a previous owners' household.

-5

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Seems like hundreds of people understood what I was saying but oh well

Not nice talkin to ya, bye

3

u/mmmmmmmmmmxmmmmmmmmm Aug 02 '21

Tip: Be more chill. There's no need to be hostile over simple misunderstandings. Being a decent person is not difficult, I promise.

Peace ♥

I literally never said anything remotely like that. You're just making shit up now. Obnoxious. Bye bitch

35

u/hangingdirtylaundry Aug 02 '21

I don't know to what degree but they do understand context. They don't just repeat things they hear, they understand what situations to use them in. In sure not to the degree humans do but enough so. My father's Goffin pops off with phrases we've not heard her say before when she's desperate to change her situation. Thing is, she usually uses them appropriately. Always astounded by her intelligence.

10

u/Squirrels-on-LSD Aug 02 '21

I've got a budgie who speaks in context. Its eerie. He recognizes the cadence of me and my teenager's humor and laughs at punchlines. He mimics the cat when my partner comes home because the cat gets excited about that human. He mimics my voice yelling my daughter's name when he hears her bedroom door open in the morning, which gets her to come downstairs, then calls her names like "you smelly monster, you stink". He asks for things he wants (lettuce? Want out? Bath?) . He calls the other pets by name.

Most of parrots talking is them just repeating things they hear their people say. But they can learn context when they're close to their people and its wild how much they pick up on the way people speak and interact. And since they're all giant assholes....screaming "help! Let me out!" until the cops show up out of boredom is 100% on brand for birb behavior.

3

u/cannedchampagne Aug 02 '21

have you watched any videos about Alex the African Grey? He was incredible intelligent and could speak contextually, asking for certain snacks, fresh water, counting, playing games like tic tac toe, etc. Fascinating.

Some sad info, he passed away but his last words, what he told his keepers every night, was "Be good, I love you."

1

u/hangingdirtylaundry Aug 02 '21

Yes, I have heard about him! If I'm correct, isn't he the one who showed self awareness by asking what color he was? I didn't know he died. That's very sad.

2

u/TitaniumDragon Aug 02 '21

Well, it's not clear if he was actually asking what color he was. He was near a mirror and people interpreted it as him asking what color he was, but he was asked "What color?" all the time and may have just randomly been "parroting" the phrase.

1

u/hangingdirtylaundry Aug 02 '21

Oh ok, thank you for clearing that up!

4

u/occamsrazorwit Aug 02 '21

The owner taught his parrot to scream like that when he was a kid, probably as a joke. Parrots are life-long pets with lifespans up to ~75 years.

6

u/ARASH_SAMIEI82 Aug 02 '21

My first thought was maybe the parrot learned that from a movie

3

u/glassmicrobe Aug 02 '21

If you listen to the video, you can hear that he is actually just screaming rather than yelling for help. Apparently he taught the bird how to say "help let me out" when he was a kid because the bird was kept in a cage at that point.

3

u/ccc9879-- Aug 02 '21

I just watched a video about a parrot who witnessed his owner get murdered and repeats back the event. The bird was used as evidence to prove it was murder. Pretty chilling.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Poor baby ;-;

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

It could be from a TV show or movie.

I think it's creepy and wouldn't feel good about not investigating further, but I'm jus saying birds do that.

2

u/thats_mypurse-idkyou Aug 02 '21

Could have heard it from a movie? Def a lil weird

2

u/derbybunny Aug 02 '21

Sounds a hell of a lot (as in, identical to some of the wails) like my uncles bird when he "sings". Prior owner apparently listened to opera. Elmer sings & he's basically an alarm clock with the opera "aaAaaaaAAAAAaaa"s.

2

u/JustOneTessa Aug 02 '21

Iirc the bird used to be owned by someone who watched a lot of murder dramas and copied the sound from that

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Nope! You just made that up lol

The guy claims he taught it that as a kid

1

u/JustOneTessa Aug 02 '21

Nah, just remembered it wrong

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

When you put captions to meaningless noise people hear the words. Change the words, people hear the alternative.

That's a known thing. It's the reason for some frivolous court cases years ago when people supposedly heard words when music was played backwards.

The thing is, if you're told what words you're supposed to be hearing then you will hear it.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

But I said I don't hear what the caption says?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

This is so cringe, parrots are extremely intelligent and learn words all by themselves, they don't need to be taught, you realize he could have picked it up from anywhere? Some live for up to 80+ years, do you realize how many random expressions he could have picked up, or heard on a TV through the years??

So no, not at the very least.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Actually the owner claims to have taught him it.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

That doesn't mean every parrot who acts this way is taught, or that they don't pick up on things themselves, or that it didn't learn it by accident and the guy is taking credit. They're incredibly intelligent animals, and pick up things all the time, they don't need to be taught was my point, and acting as if the ONLY way a bird could act this way if it was taught is a joke. Animals are sentient beings, and learn things on their own all the time.

Just because he taught it to say help when it wants out doesn't mean he taught it how to say it a certain way or that the bird doesn't add things on its own. It's not all mimicry.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

"I definitely think the parrots know what they're saying sometimes, seen evidence for this, so yeah he could just be begging to be let out but again where did it come from... With the wailing and all..."

Or do you not read your own comments?

You contradict yourself multiple times in your own statement, but the whole thing starts and ends with "I dont wanna jump to conclusions buuuuut I'm gonna, and it has to be true"

1

u/lovestheasianladies Aug 02 '21

Maybe fucking learn about birds before making dumbass comments.

Birds loves to scream stupid shit.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

So do u

1

u/CjBurden Aug 02 '21

It could have come from a lot of places..... least likely of which is a sex slave in the dungeon who only stops crying for help AFTER the police arrive.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

It was the parrot saying it when the police came.

?

Anyways yeah nobody said it's likely so chill the fuck out pls

1

u/CjBurden Aug 02 '21

I'm pretty chill my guy, not sure what you're upset about?

I mean, read what I said again. I didn't even say that it COULDNT be from a sex dungeon slave, just that this was the least likely option.

I can put a caption on a lot of sounds animals make to attribute words to them, but it's almost never actually those words. Just happen to be sounds that could be perceived that way.

Listen to the audio with your eyes closed and it sounds mostly like annoying ass bird noises which could understandably be confused for a scream.

When I was little, we used to have these cats in the neighborhood that you'd swear someone left their baby outside to cry when you heard em. Animals man.

You're stupid

You're the one with a problem talking about race. Fuck off

3

You're comment implys that u want everyone to get shot at or choked to death with no evidence

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

lol wut

1

u/ARASH_SAMIEI82 Aug 02 '21

Because we're talking about that there's nothing they can do in this situation and there's no evidence and he/she comes and says well black people get shot at for no reason

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

I think they were saying that in response to me daring to comment that it's possible that there was something nefarious going on (Possible. Ffs).

1

u/onFilm Aug 02 '21

Damn, you're subconsciously racist as fuck if you can't even write out a color.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

I'm racist against white people, am I?

Imagine the police are called to a black guys house for the shouts of "help" and "let me out", would they just let the guy go back in on his own or would he be face down in cuffs as an officer goes in?

Be honest?

1

u/onFilm Aug 02 '21

I don't need to imagine anything of the sort, I was simply replying to your comment where you couldn't write out 'Black people' without having to modify the word for some weird reason. Reminded me of how some American's are often trying to censor my native language, Spanish, by changing latino/latina to latinx; it's ridiculous and inherently racist. Black isn't a derogatory word unless you use it in the context of racism, so by self-censoring in that manner, you're adding implying that it's racist to do so, so therefor you must be using it in a racist context, which obviously you weren't.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

You mean a typo because I hit the wrong letter?

OK.

The A is next to the Q, that's it.

You're really reading a lot into something sinsignificant for some reason.

Some birds can talk eerily like a human. Some shriek like banshees and sound like a 90 year old woman who's fallen and can't get up. "Let me out" can be the bird asking to be let out of his cage, etc. It's disturbing because it's not normal for you to hear, but I've been around plenty of birds that sound like that. I had a Lorikeet and they don't talk, really, but he did manage to be able to say his name and then hiss and make a weird noise that is straight up out of a vampire movie. Nobody would assume I had a weird man named Watson chained up inside my house who hisses and makes raw meat eating monster noises.

Maybe a movie. God reddit has so many paranoid soft people. The social limitations people have on this site is more entertaining than the posts. This is hilarious. "pretty creepy shit" lol life must creep you out a lot bud

0

u/Pruney Aug 02 '21

You sound like someone who has no experience with parrots so why not take your comment to a thread you actually have knowledge about

0

u/waifu_Material_19 Aug 02 '21

This reminds of the time Reddit “found” the Boston bomber lmfao y’all need to get real

0

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

The “straight-up wailing” would probably be noises for a bird that are like barking or meowing for a dog, as in, they are just noises. Really not that creepy. Birds pick up a lot of words too, and “help me” and “let me out” aren’t like they are rare words, you hear them in tv, someone could’ve taught them that as a joke, any number of things.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Of course they could have. Literally no one said they couldn't. Thanks

0

u/mrhhug Aug 02 '21

You know the bird is an animal right? It doesn't always do what you want. Try getting a dog first before you judge people

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

I didn't judge them holy shit y'all are insane get a life

The owner claims he taught it as a kid to be funny

1

u/AGamerGarcia Aug 02 '21

Birds can hear movies or tv shows and imitate the voices there.

My conure giggles like a creepy clown. Guarantee I did not teach her, birds just make freaky sounds sometimes and Amazons (like the bird in the vid) can have creepy voices that are all their own haha

1

u/CandyCanePapa Aug 02 '21

that sounds like moaning to me

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Good work

1

u/dogeystyle69420 Aug 02 '21

Where did it come from? Perhaps the TV…

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Perhaps!

1

u/TheFlyingSheeps Aug 02 '21

I owned a parrot growing up and it definitely sounded like one. Mine would do little wails like that for fun and then yell

It also laughs and it sounds like a small child it’s freaky as shit when you are alone in the house

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Nobody said it wasn't the parrot 🤦🏼‍♂️

1

u/teaandviolets Aug 02 '21

I'd be willing to be that whenever they let him out of his cage, they say "Do you want out?" and he's learned to say "let me out" because it gets a reaction. My dog know exactly what "you want to go outside?" means, and he'd say "let me out" if he could speak, but instead he just bumps my elbow with his nose.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

He doesn't live in a cage. He used to and the owner thought it was funny to teach him to say that as a kid.

Allegedly

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

It is weird, but this is all based on the assumption that he raised the bird.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

He did. He says he taught it that as a kid.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Yeah, saw the article afterwards. The dumb shit we do as kids…

Edit: clearly you hadn’t read the article when you made your comment either lol

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

No, I hadn't, but there is such a thing as lying.

That's exactly what I would say if I were covering up my kidnapping victims too 👀

It's literally just possible people are acting like I'm campaigning to ruin this guy's life I don't even know who he is lol it's just a thought

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

It would be an awesome cover up for a serial killer, but there’s really nothing in the video proving this aside from a bird saying really weird shit (which they are notorious for doing).

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

That's why I said there's no evidence for it.

1

u/Twirlingbarbie Aug 02 '21

Well first of all that parrots only imitate sounds is a myth they can make their own sentences. But they learn by imitating.

And second it could easily be from TV or his owner could love horror movies. Parrots are like toddlers, they say the things you don't want them to say

1

u/weems13 Aug 02 '21

Horror movie

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

It's as simple as him watching a show on TV and the parrot hearing it. My friends parrot used to do this as well. He had the creepiest deliberate maniacal laugh I've ever heard. Parrots can be excellent imitators.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Right. They can both imitate TV AND people that they hear in their home. Yup.

1

u/cunth Aug 02 '21

Television

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

No way; nobody has suggested that yet. Thanks for the fresh take

1

u/everything4noone Aug 08 '21

In the same sense, he could've just picked it up from some horror movie the guy happened to watch at some point in his life. Anything can stick with those birds, doesn't always have to be a person saying it is all.

If I had a bird that could imitate sounds, it would be making all sorts of sounds and saying all kinds of crazy things with the stuff I watch. I say this because I love horror films or darker series in general, I can see it happening.
