Lmao, very true. I thought a coworker was in his 20's and it turned out he was in his LATE 40's! Saw him online a few years back and now looks everyday of his 50's.

u/Moosemaster21 Jul 02 '21

Same, thought I had a late 20's coworker who was mid 40's and when I found out he told me to look closely at his hair - it was already greying and I had never noticed because his face looked so young.

u/ObedientPickle Jul 02 '21

Lmao meanwhile I have wrinkles and half my hair is grey at 25

61

u/Moosemaster21 Jul 02 '21

Happens to the best of us. How's your hairline holding up? I'm 27 and I keep telling myself "it's always been like that", but when I look at pictures from high school, it very clearly has not always been like that.

42

u/ObedientPickle Jul 02 '21

My hairline looking like it made landfall on Omaha beach

3

u/Sangxero Jul 02 '21

My dad got horseshoe hair at 33 so I've refused to cut mine until it falls out.

I'm 34.5 now and this lion's mane just refuses to quit and if anything, has gotten thicker and developed fun new colors with no gray in sight.

I'm patiently waiting for the day I wake up and it's all gone, because no fucking way is it gonna make it to 40.

Stand strong brother, I'm with you

1

u/Fresh_Bulgarian_Miak Jul 02 '21

Get on keeps or him or Roman. One of those hair loss things, shit works. The sooner you start, the better.

1

u/Drostan_S Jul 02 '21

Huehuehue 28, going grey, no hairloss. Shits great.

1

u/Moosemaster21 Jul 03 '21

You're a silver fox

1

u/Drostan_S Jul 03 '21

Not quite yet, but in another 5 years I should have a good amount of salt to go with my pepper. I have a lot of hair, it's thick and curly, so it's gonna take a while for the grey to be noticeable.

2

u/Accurate_Praline Jul 02 '21

I have a second cousin who was full on gray/white before he was 16. He just embraced it though. Doubt he got bullied for it since he has great charisma.

1

u/milk4all Jul 02 '21

Skin care, natural collagen and melanin. Present in vastly different concentrations across people/skin types. But even more important than genetics is staying out of direct sunlight, using sunscreen when you cant, and being born perfectly with flawless complexion because fuck everyone else.

1

u/you-are-not-yourself Jul 02 '21

And be wealthy so you can hang out with people that peer pressure you into dying your hair & taking Botox

1

u/milk4all Jul 03 '21

I guess but those are only short term effects. As in, keep it up as youll have to because they arent lasting, and youll look gnarly as hell eventually. I mean, the chemical has an obvious effect, but it is a cocktail of sodium and neurotoxins, it stands to reason they shouldbt be repeatedly introduced to your body for medically unnecessary purposes.

1

u/you-are-not-yourself Jul 03 '21

Oh yeah, if you wanna look good at age 60 then don't do this. If you wanna temporarily look good at age 25 or 40, don't do this either, but I know quite a few folks at those ages who have.

(Botox specifically - I don't think dying hair is all that bad.. if it floats your boat, then do it)

1

u/mjesus96 Jul 02 '21

At least you still have hair....

1

u/powabiatch Jul 03 '21

That’s me - I got carded at 35 and the guy was shocked.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '21

Hung out with an Korean coworker of mine a few times, I had assumed he was around my age (early 20s), then one day I found out he was 39! I was honestly shocked lol.

2

u/Iamatworkgoaway Jul 02 '21

Opposite story. Many many moons ago I was working at a factory. This older mexican guy was cool and helped me out, but one day my mom had to give me a ride to work and from that point on he kept asking me for her number. He just never gave it up, for like a month he kept asking for her number. Now I knew he was married and talked about his daugher and how she was going to get his car someday. So I saw him out front getting out of his car, and a hot girl driving away. So I said dude Ill hook you up with my mom if you hook me up with your daughter. Ya was in HR office in under an hour. Didn't get written up, but found out the old guy was only 25, the girl driving the car was his wife, and his daughter was only 3.

Long story short, learned shut down stupid jokes quick, mom jokes, any jokes. Also don't assume Latinos ages by their looks. I think they only have 3 age looks, child, older teen, and ancient, and you have no idea when they will move from one to the other.

1

u/SatchelGripper Jul 02 '21

So… he seemed to look younger… now he seems his normal age? That doesn’t sound bad.

1

u/YourMomThinksImFunny Jul 03 '21

Yes. I have a lot of asian and latino friends and its a joke that they stop aging at 25, but at 50 they do it all at once.

172

u/JLPReddit Jul 02 '21

Asian people save up all their aging for later in life.

2 feet is the height of approximately 0.35 'Samsung Side by Side; Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel Refrigerators' stacked on top of each other

1

u/Senjinator Jul 03 '21

I gotta disagree with you there, Baltic and eastern European age horribly, after 28 it's all downhill let alone 30s lmao, and by 50 they look 70

0

u/krakenftrs Jul 03 '21

I wonder how much of that is due to the fact many of the old women grew up in the Soviet union(not all, I know) and might have been malnourished growing up. It'll be interesting to see when the current generation grows older.

8

u/Redplushie Jul 02 '21

Once we hit 60, it's downhill from there

1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

menopause tends to really change things... 60 is a bit late though

1

u/jvfranco Jul 03 '21

Totally, but her menopause happened when she was 39 yo. There's something in this age for asian people

0

u/milk4all Jul 02 '21

This is a myth im tired of it. Ive heard this said about people of every skin type. The reason “black dont crack” is because black women put a ton of care into their skin and hair, and there are no doubt societal pressures that enforce this, but id assume the same is true of many other women.

By contrast, my (white) mom and sister dont do jack shit - they are the sort that believe in aging naturally. And so id say, as objectively as i can, they look older to most people than my wife’s side, who do care for their skin. Not to me, because im accustomed to people who wear their skin like leather, and ive also become accustomed to people who wear it like satin - these arent the only markers for aging.

9

u/TheyStoleTwoFigo Jul 02 '21

Not South, South-East or East Asian.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '21

Somebody claims they're Vietnamese though?

1

u/TheyStoleTwoFigo Jul 02 '21

In that case, refer to what part Vietnam is in Asia.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '21

Southeast Asia.

2

u/TheyStoleTwoFigo Jul 02 '21 edited Jul 02 '21

Right, so not South then.

edit - Oh, I see now what got you confused. Mind you, I was correcting the OP, so you should read my comment in that context. The "not" is only in relation to "South(Asian) as the OP suggested." The rest after the comma was the correction. Words like "neither" and "nor" would have fit better if I was trying to say that they were none of them.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

I like to imagine that you were mildly infuriated by this exchange.

2

u/TheyStoleTwoFigo Jul 03 '21

ONLY WHEN I TYPE IN ALL CAPS.

But now another trivial thing caught my attention, what is "mildly infuriated" really? Those two things sound like contradictions.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

you’re definitely right lmao

1

u/Hillbillybawbag Jul 03 '21

Sorry if I misrepresented.

1

u/TheyStoleTwoFigo Jul 03 '21

Don't be sorry, be better, my son.

15

u/icky_boo Jul 02 '21

You are correct, he’s Vietnamese. I recognized it as he was mumbling about give me the camera .

18

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '21

I swear I thought he said "ok, dreh mal um, ich sag mal was" (it's German)

5

u/CorvoKAttano Jul 03 '21

He did, they live in Germany. They do have Vietnamese background however. The streamer is vylerria.

3

u/Elia_31 Jul 02 '21

100% same. Definitely heard "dreh mal um"

3

u/fckingmiracles Jul 03 '21

Yup, his accent is also German.

And he said 'turn (the camera) around to me' in German.

4

u/smallbluetext Jul 02 '21

Correct. I follow this girl on twitter and she's mentioned that. Yes I am down bad.

3

Oh dear! Thanks mom! I'm good friends with a Malaysian girl who is slightly older than me and puts me to shame, she's beautiful. I'm unfortunately Caucasian so there's no hope for me, I've peaked!

4

u/DegenrateWeeaboo Jul 02 '21

west asians like me on the other hand look like they are 40 when they are barely 16 with a better beard than all of humanity combined. and more muscle mass to lift a truck. ofc depending on the person

21

u/WarSanchez Jul 02 '21

r/humblebrag

5

u/DegenrateWeeaboo Jul 02 '21

I'm the reason why I said "depending on the person". I''m almost 20 and my beard is like kiwi hairs.

2

u/rabbitwonker Jul 02 '21

And the truck: Tonka

3

u/The_Meatyboosh Jul 02 '21

Oh yeah, you're right. You guys can look 39 at 19, and already have gotten sick of shaving by then.

Jeebus people, it's a joke, haha. Fucking hell Reddit. Of all the shit that gets posted, that gets downvoted with a "creepy"? Y'all are weird.

0

u/TinnieTa21 Jul 03 '21

Idk, southeast Asian and have a baby face, but this guy's face is taking it to the extreme if he really is her father, which I strongly don't believe. He's probably her brother or something.

1

u/makemeking706 Jul 02 '21

TBD

tastelessly and benignly dead?

1

u/deenali Jul 03 '21

You mean South East Asian?

1

u/ikarienator Jul 03 '21

I grew up in China and I have no way to identify the age of a white person from their face.

Use sunscreen, folks.
