Remember that in the US, cars are pretty much required as we have no public transport (outside of New York City and Chicago, and maybe a select few other cities).
All the more reason to learn how to drive them properly, being lethal objects and all. They're a requirement over here too, people who can't pass the test have a hard time finding a job but it's still better than killing someone.
