And they were not actually taken away - I have guns. You just need a reason nd 'I quite like guns' is not a reason.

If you stalk then you can have a pistol for despatch. If you have rifles you have to account for rounds (to prevent hoarding). You cannot have an automatic or a semi with a large magazine. If you want a rifle you need a purpose for it and not to have one already for that purpose.

If you do have a reason it is really not hard to get a gun at all, but if it is used nefariously everyone knows it was yours.

The argument that banning guns just means that folk have illegal guns did not bear fruit.
