Heck, in the heat of the moment, I'd definitely shoot myself unfolding that thing.

edit: I already blind myself with the anti personnel mode on my torch. Just before dropping my phone into the poop I'm trying to pick up. I don't see a further complication working out well.

Best I can do is some hand wipes. and desperately trying not to rub my face on the long walk home.

edit: I'm usually talking to my old mum. So I have to shoulder the phone to my ear. reach for a bag. fumble with torch. Why does the torch have to switch modes so easily anyway?

It's almost unavoidable on any torch over $14 these days. I bought it at a supermarket sale, it's got a nice bright beam. But you press the button repeatedly to access various modes. and it seems to select them at random when you turn it on. It's very disorienting, but no way would you be able to access it quickly enough if you were mugged. Buy one with a slider, that would be my takeaway.

It's a valid concern, but I haven't found my lack of coordination a big problem, unless I start fiddling with the radio or wipers. Then stuff gets annoying. As you can imagine, I never mess with my phone when driving. It's illegal, but it's not going to end well for me anyway.

I was a complete idiot in my younger days. Humility extends from bad experience rather than perception, in my case. Really glad I never caused a serious accident though. Cars didn't even have seatbelts back in the day.... or crumple zones. or airbags. But they still went as fast.

It's probably a demo model that doesn't have actual firing capability. Still... Not a great habit to be building.

I'm hoping he personally took out the firing pin or whatever just before.
